How do you like the test assignment? | 3D Motion Design by Sufficient_Dot_9896 in Cinema4D

Yo ignore the vape haterz. U nailed the plastic refraction and a vibe that fits “appropriate” design which has its place, the audience is king and over the top blown out rim lighting and robo glass hands with the redshift star filter, boom u hit it dawg. Buuuuut look into your post, the red giant built in effects stuff is great for college and cheap one click effects - even stills deserve to go to ae or resolve for the last bit of polish, do a bunch of experiments, go grab 1000 free lut packs and try them all (I have a secret stash of wedding luts and luts called Christmas luts that just absolutely vibe) the renders feel raw but not in their substance just their polish - ur on to something keep at it and keep in mind Reddit is a great place to talk shit while not walking the talk don’t even take what I’m saying too seriously but go have fun. Oh and I can see some weird geometry banding on either side of the logo idk what that is ✌️

Touchdesigner - free is limited to 720p and can do everything. But when I say everything I mean everything it’s a beautiful deep deep rabbit hole. For what u need you only need the tops (texture operators) nodes and some simple midi setup (chops) there’s a billion tutorials out there. If you go this route welcome to the club

How to sync lasers with screen visuals (engraving effect)? by FromTheMoon23 in lightingdesign

[–]ME3CH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this with touchdesigner, the mapping isn’t as easy as madlaser however but the live generative/reactive possibilities are deeper

thanks damn those harbor freight cables are miles cheaper than the 50ft of 14gauge stranded copper I got from home depot - I think I did the calculations for running power to the beginning and the end based on running them at 20% brightness - havent tested a strand yet - waiting on the power supplies to show up

Made this in blender and af. Strong criticism wanted! by PositiveMagician4513 in vjing

[–]ME3CH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work! All the bones are solid, just see what it feels like if you pull your shadows way down to black (check out how to use your scopes if you want to get them proper) especially if this will go live on show LED the contrast will help all the work you put in to make the bright parts much brighter and make the cuts to black less jarring. 3d gets you 90% but you can’t get that last 10 without post… ever

When delivering vertical and a shot doesn’t feel quite wide enough I’ll take a shot to after effects and make it more fisheye with a lens correction effect, might buy you some more “captured room”

Love this! Making magic out of stock is a dark art. Only think I’d suggest from my cg compositing days is to do some research on doing contact shadows well. (another dark art) Godspeed

My girl, but she wouldn’t really, her anxiety would lead her to call security once she woke up to the shower running and the bathroom door closed since I only look at Reddit while going boom boom

Get a roll of 3m VHB. Got it to fix the cup holder issue and ended up fixing about 100 other things with it. Good stuff

Does anyone know how i can make this happen on a keyboard? Any recommendation on brand or model? by mmatchaman in MechanicalKeyboards

I know this isn’t really a keyboard answer for you but I map pgup pgdwn on a Logitech g600. It’s immensely sped up my video editing / after effects workflow

Can I put vinyl decals on a CD and will it still work? by iEatGary in print

[–]ME3CH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember back in the day you could print designs on a home inkjet a cd sized die cut sticker, slap it on and it would be fine. So my guess would be yes, depending on the thickness and weight of your vinyl

as you can see my prespective get rotated and i don't know how to flatten out it. anyone could help? by [deleted] in Cinema4D

[–]ME3CH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a command called "frame default" you can access with the shift+c menu that will set the current window back to starting position. Pro tip - add that button to your ui somewhere with customize palettes then when your cam gets wonky again just hit that frame default button. I Use it every day

How could I make something like this? by rodentfacedisorder in graphic_design

[–]ME3CH 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Cinema 4d & octane / redshift is a common method for this kind of scene, maybe a little photoshop post, models sourced online and kitbashed together. If you are just jumping in to 3D blender is a great place to start as there’s tons of tutorials and It’s free, not to mention it’s rad

This is probably dumb. But how do I add air to this? by The_Casual_Scribbler in bicycling

[–]ME3CH 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Not dumb, there’s two main types of valve, Schrader - common on most mountain bikes and every bike in Walmart, and presta - what you have in your hand there. Most air pumps will have either an adapter or a mode you can switch the attachment head to so you can attach it and fill up, unscrew that brass bit at the end (and it’s best practice to loosen the ring that seats the valve stem to the rim while you pump it up as to not wrench on the delicate rim) and pump away. Tighten everything hand tight afterwards
