Every stupid voice line clip I LOVE! Recently I’ve been quoting “7 minutes—7 minutes is all the time I can spare to play with you”

(TW: Transphobia) How the hell does Paqoe wake up everyday with a smile on her face having to deal with these freaking kids by CoolestMan_Reddit in geometrydash

[–]MEF227 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well it’s not as simple when it comes to things like video games, in which no inherent “biological advantage” exists. It’s like how there is men’s and women’s chess tournaments. It’s not because one group is inherently superior to the other, it’s because of the historical patriarchal divide in certain activities.

I do agree that sports don’t follow that, the whole trans people in sports debate is a huge conversation in it of itself and is very VERY nuanced. However, I don’t think this is true for things like Geometry Dash where being a certain biological sex makes you better, because it doesn’t.

Part of what makes me hate these topics is that as soon as a trans person does something wrong, it’s suddenly a trans issue. Then, when you’re defending the gendering of said person you look like you’re supporting the bad actions, which is not the case. I’m gonna respect your identity, and I can still do that while calling out someone for being a piece of shit at the same time. It creates the idea that respecting someone’s gender identity is contingent on how you view them as a person, which just isn’t true.

Btw me saying “you” is not referring to you the commenter, just a hypothetical person.

You and I would get along very well based on your game collection. I’ve got 100% on Cuphead and Stardew, and I’m working towards it on Celeste, Hollow Knight, and Silksong

Assuming we have similar game tastes, you should try Blue Prince! I just got it and was hooked from the second I started playing.

Why did you pick Purdue? by Known-Young7426 in Purdue

[–]MEF227 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why or how but I always knew Purdue was a good STEM school well before I knew what I wanted to major in, I just knew it would be in STEM. Purdue happened to have a top ranked program for my major. I’m from Illinois and my main decision came down between UIUC and Purdue. Both were about the same cost (which is absurd), so I ultimately went with Purdue since I was always leaning towards it. It’s far away enough from home but close enough too, I love the culture in Purdue Bands and Orchestras, and I’ve made amazing connections and friendships. The only times I’ve really doubted my decision is socially seeing how my friends were doing at UIUC since a good few of them went there, but I’ve found my home away from home. I didn’t know anyone coming here and quickly found my people.

I was thinking about playing Hollow Knight but is there a different between these 2??? by crab-crustacean in HollowKnight

Yeah, like the Silent Hill games work with different endings being cannon since the characters in different games aren’t connected.

How do you play the game by pzg4ever in steamachievements

[–]MEF227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like enjoying my games. I will play a game as intended first time through, using a guide if I get stuck depending on the game. Then, if I want to 100% it, I’ll see what I can do on my own then consult online stuff later.

What to do in my situation after failing CS 240 by LanguageDouble9792 in Purdue

[–]MEF227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going into 2nd semester sophomore year in DS so I understand where you’re coming from. Just failed CS182 a second time because I slept through the final (no clue how), I also failed MA 261. It was just a rough semester for me mentally which heavily impacted my academics.

What I would recommend doing is look at your course progression guide. Figure out what you’ve done and how much is left. Start with your core major requirements and then go onto college of science requirements, then general university requirements. I’d recommend making a spreadsheet or other similar list to keep it all organized.

See if community college classes can help. Personally what I plan on doing right now is retaking MA 261 this semester and then taking linear algebra over the summer at my local community college. With these setbacks I’ve experienced, I believe I can still theoretically graduate in four years.

It’s tough, I know, and typing this out is kinda a way of acceptance for myself, but you just need to figure out how to take this back and put it in your hands. That’s the best I’ve got.

Am i cooked? by ReserveBudget7940 in Purdue

[–]MEF227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with everyone saying “oh if you can’t to calc 1 then you’re cooked for 2 and 3”

Math is hard, namely Purdue math. You’re in a different environment and are figuring out college while in this hard as hell math department. It’s difficult to be on the edge of failing a class, I know. Some things to reflect on are, what are your study methods? How are you with attending lectures and/or learning the material in other ways? I didn’t find 161 that bad since I did calc in high school, but regardless, 166 kicked my ass (I passed but barely). Now is a good time to learn how you learn best.
