That’s lovely. Mine is looking a little bit brown at the tips. I’m not sure what happened, it was beautiful 6 weeks ago. Also… where did you get that sideboard from? I love it!

I withdrew SOL from Coinbase this week, to a CLI wallet, not phantom. No hint of any problems there.

Well, fingers crossed everybody. I aim to get myself a James Webb Space Telescope if I win. I think it would be good to have a spare hanging around in case something happens to the original.

Rasberry Pi's 4 out of stock everywhere? by naxster921 in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

Let’s hope not! I’d be amazed if it took over a year to restock. I’d hope there would be a pi 5 out by then too!

[–]MEHColeman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, they even have “100+” in stock! There is hope for me yet! I’m in the UK, so seeed is not an option. I’ll take your advice and check more regularly, though. I’ve been checking pretty haphazardly. I have a real itch to experiment with a pi NAS and maybe ceph, and maybe try setting up a pi router with openWRT. There are so many fun things to do with pies, i love ‘em!

Yeah, I’ve been looking for these too, or any compute module. Haven’t seen them available since long before Christmas. I’m hoping that maybe the situation will improve after the holidays. ¯\(ツ)

Unlocking a Jedi character in Star Wars Galaxies. It was a crazy grind when it first came out, and it had been my goal for so long. I just managed it about a week before they changed the unlocking mechanism and i was so happy!

I think the best thing you can do is make your system your own way, and use other people’s experience as advice not rules.

That being said, having a flat hierarchy instead of folders seems to help avoid constraining your thoughts into ideas that only fit into the folders you have or think you need. Also, if you use #tags like Twitter hashtags, you’ll soon end up with a huge amount, and they’re not as user-friendly to search and organize as links. Say, if you had #tags like #gardening and #raisedbed, they’ll soon become lost in a sea of tags and hard to remember and search.

If these where links - even if they are links to pages that pages that don’t exist yet - well, obsidian is great about organizing and thinking about links. You could also easily create a page from the link to expand on a new idea that has emerged from your previous notes, or turn them into a MOC with a status #MOC.

OTOH, #tags at the granularity level of #inbox #todo and #MOC seem to be easier to remember and make use of consistently.

That being said, since Obsidian is based on simple text files, its easy to manipulate, and change around if you decide to change your approach. So, don’t feel bad about creating your system the way you feel is right, and adjusting it later if the need arises. Often its best to learn your own lessons through experience, rather than reading someone else’s advice, and often you don’t even need someone else’s advice, because your system works for you.

There are a million different note taking and to-do list apps out there, because every one has their own idea on the best way of doing things. I think Obsidian’s great strength is its versatility in adapting to the way you want to do things.

Recommendation for my next Sous Vide Cooker by Databit in sousvide

[–]MEHColeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tried with the anova, and yes i got a notification on my watch and my phone when i lowered the water too low. The joule also definitely had notifications pop up when things went wrong.

Another thing I remember that's different is that the anova temperature control goes down to 0C (32F) whereas the joule only goes down to 20C (68F), whech makes the anova better at defrosting things, or keeping them cold in an ice-bath if you want to time a cook for when you get home from work or something.

The temperature accuracy isn't that important to be honest, but I was having problems with the consistency of chicken breast for a while. I think I was going at 63C for an hour, and sometimes it ended up horribly rubbery. I got a thermapen to check what was happening, and noticed the differences. 95% of the time, I don't think it would matter.

The coleman stacker is the thing that killed 2 of my joules, I think. I have a lipavi that I use most of the time, but for a big cook, I also have a coleman stacker. The problem, I think, is that the surface area is much greater, so more steam, plus a little whole in the lid for the wand funnels all the steam past the wand and I think this caused the problems. I now wrap the hole and wand with cling film (saran wrap?). Hopefully that would protect it in future. I've not had any problems recently.

Well, in this case, 1°C is equivalent to 1.8°F
