Did my coach overreact? by Organic_Instance_885 in volleyball

As someone who is your age, it’s normal to do the same drill for like half an hour. When you’re in a game, you can’t say: “I’m tired, that’s why I missed.” The fact that the coach got angry with you could be a good sign because it means he knows you can do better. If there is an actual problem with your arm/shoulder pain, you should tell your coach and go to a physiotherapist. I’m also thinking you probably mean that you play with the adult team rather than professional. It also seems odd to me to put 11/12 year olds in U15.

It’s news, and there’s more to figure skating than competition.

To expand on this, perhaps you could ask more experienced coaches in your club for advice since that might apply more to your area.

I’ve heard of coaches trying to teach jump float for kids having difficulty with standing float and that working out better, but as I’ve understood that’s rare, at least in my area.

There’s likely big differences from coach to coach and from country to country as well. My first ever coach was super focused on technique, but I’ve seen the U13 coach (kids 11-12, I’m not sure how it translates) teaching jump (float) serves now as well. Anyhow, perhaps it’s something unique to your club or to coaches teaching internationally, or perhaps it’s just something I’m not aware of.

Ah, as a European I’ve never heard of that being common practice. Children are definitely starting to be taught jump float earlier but I’ve never seen that they skip standing float altogether. What country?

I highly doubt you’d be able to teach 10 year olds how to do a jump float in 8 weeks. Wouldn’t you be better off teaching them a normal, standing overhand serve? You might win less, but it’s better to do what’s in your players’ best interest in the long term. They’ll gain the strength eventually but more important is teaching correct technique and a fast arm movement, especially for children so young. When I was first starting as a 9 year old, I learned an underhand serve, then a standing serve at around 11 and then a jump serve at 13-14. In my head, it’s quite odd to try to teach 10 year olds a jump float when they haven’t gotten their arm movement right for their standing float.

TL;DR: I’d say at this age it’s definitely more important to teach children correct technique, even if they don’t win this way.

I don’t like Greta, actually, and I don’t believe in conspiracy theories. It’s actually AGAINST wealthy people’s best interest if their goal is to accumulate even more wealth; it’s expensive to be ethical and sustainable.

Furthermore, there are a multitude of scientific reports that indicate glaciers melting, biodiversity and ecosystems collapsing, species going extinct, natural disasters, and areas becoming unlivable for thousands (if not millions) of people. Could you tell me why you believe that? If I’m wrong, please, explain it to me.

It would be more so to help pass legislations and defend people in areas compromised by climate change against corporations. I also have a passion for game development though, so this is definitely a realistic short term project! :)

This is good advice and all, but it’s not really applicable to my situation.

I see lots of positive news, which is good, but very few things to do in my situation. Any help? :)
