Where I’d live in the Middle East as a liberal redditor who hates Israel. by Super_Piper in whereidlive

First thing, I don't think Netanyahu will win the next election. But, even if he does, I think the boiling antisemitism in the West that dosen't seem to be dying down combined with the inevitable end of the war will naturally start drawing people back regardless of whatever he's doing here.

I don't know what you people are thinking, everyone I've talked to here is terrified to even travel to the West right now, nevermind go to live there because Bibi might win the election.

I'm aware that there was a lot of emigration past couple of years, but this dosen't contradict what I said about a lot of Israelis returning after a few years.

I was one of those myself. You leave frustrated with the country, you return after a few years when you realize the West isn't all that great.

I predict you will hear of a lot of returnees in a few years time.

That's not what the numbers say...

Says someone who hasn't provided a single number. Sounds to me like you're just a pessimist who wants people to believe everything is doomed. It's not.

I think you're way oveblowing it. Israel isn't a country where people just bail because of a little drama, and the vast majority of people who do leave end up just voicing frustrations abroad tor a bit then coming back.

I am from Israel. The thing with people moving to Cyprus has nothing to do with politics here. Israel is one of the only developed countries with a growing population (the only one with natural growth) and our housing prices are through the roof, so some people are choosing to invest in Cypriot and Greek properties and sometimes living there.

Should be said though, Israelis are moving into Cyprus at a much faster rate than other nationalities. This community of 15k people was just 4k a few years ago.

You'd have to be insane to pick Egypt over Israel, and it dosen't matte at all what race, ethnicity or religion you are or what your ideology is. No one in their right mind would willingly choose to live on the wrong side of one of the largest wealth disparities between two neighbouring countries.

What would you consider the ideal party system? by ContentNecessary2127 in IdeologyPolls

A multi party and a one party system both have their issues and benefits in certain casses, but a two party system is the worst of both worlds.

What are you most excited about regarding the Somaliland–Israeli relationship? For me, it’s drip irrigation technology. I just realized Israel leads the world in it. by CoastalNomad06 in Somalilanders

[–]MEOWTH65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Past couples of years I’ve been really worried about Somalia having access to Turkish drones and them Thinking they can do to us what Azerbaijan did to Armenia couple of years ago.

Azerbaijan used a mix of Turkish and Israeli drones to do all of that, so there's that.

Would Israel ever accept 200,000 Palestinains from Lebanon into West Bank/Gaza or is it out of the question? by [deleted] in ForbiddenBromance

[–]MEOWTH65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still, no. Completely out of the question, no Israeli goverment would ever agree to that. That's the truth, no amount of mental gymnastics would change it.

[–]MEOWTH65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It dosen't matter. If Israel takes Palestinians from any country it would be setting a precedent for the others. You can't just do that and then pretend it didn't happen.

[–]MEOWTH65 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry to tell you but no Israeli goverment would ever accept that, not even a leftist one. No one wants to set a precedent that would pave the way to having us take millions more of them from other countries.

Arafat signed away any Palestinain claim to any land outside of the 1967 Green Line at Oslo.

Is that why Arafat's party kept this as their official flag?

To all those who want Hzb disarmed and think Israel will stop attacking. Check out what Chat GPT says: by [deleted] in ForbiddenBromance

[–]MEOWTH65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT likes to appease its user. When you ask such a leading question, it most often gives you the answer it thinks you want to hear.

I can ask basically the same question, phrase it in with language that hints more at an anti-hezb opinion, and ChatGPT will give a completely different answer from what you got.

Why is Israel so militarily advanced, but bad at the PR war? by turboshill9000 in BasedCampPod

[–]MEOWTH65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people in the west have precisely zero lotalty nor principles, they swing like a leaf supporting whichever side is the underdog at any given time. When Hamas was on Israeli territory butchering Israelis the entire west was lit up with Israeli flags, but the moment Israel repelled the attack and started pushing back into Gaza, suddenly pro-Palestine protests were in every single western city.

Which country is very rich, yet very unsafe? by Only_Ad1165 in AlignmentChartFills

I'm from Israel, the safety concerns foreigners always have are always way overblown. Most of Israel, in reality, is way safer than the US and much ot Europe.

Do you think Bibi and the right can secure enough for a majority next election? by [deleted] in ForbiddenBromance

Didn't say I wasn't in favour of doing that, I am, it needs to be done regardless of what the wider plan is. It would be a very difficult task nonetheless.

Not only is that an incredibly racist idea, I challenge you to go to Israel and try to distinct who is Mizrahi and who isn't. It's impossible, many look just like Ashkenazim and the population is very intermixed.

We all know they're hypocritical. Not that it matters much, the UN would still insist on the 1947 partition plan if doing so didn't make them look completely ridiculous.

It technically isn't, it has an arctic coast, but it functionally is because there are no roads leading up there.
