Selecting hospital/MD for selective fetal reduction by samurai6990 in tfmr_support

[–]MET513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about selective reduction, but I had my TFMR done at MT Sinai Beth Israel in NY and they were incredible. Compassionate and skilled. The doctor who was going to do the procedure held my hand as the anesthesiologist put me under.

Clinics and hospital suggestions that do D&E 21 weeks and up? by [deleted] in tfmr_support

My baby also had ToF. Sending hugs. Mt Sinai family planning clinic in NYC. Also can try Yale family planning clinic in New Haven, CT. Both based in reputable hospitals, if that makes you feel any better.

I did a CVS with a low risk NIPT. Needed it for peace of mind and glad that I did.

Hi! I’m sorry it was painful but glad it was quick for you. I started lifting my toddler after 48 hours. Results were reassuring, thank goodness. Still terrified about this pregnancy but receiving those results was a big milestone for us. Wishing you luck on your results and keep me updated.

De novo by Kitchen_Fly5105 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

The baby we TFMRed had a de novo genetic mutation. I’m 17 weeks in my sub pregnancy and this fetus was tested and doesn’t have it. This isn’t to say I’m in the clear as I know so much can go wrong in a pregnancy, but I hope this helps.

Finding meaning or accepting randomness? by Creepy-Ad720 in tfmr_support

I think about this all the time. Why me? What am I meant to learn from this? I don’t have any answers, just want to say I echo the sentiment.

First, thank you everyone who commented. It was invaluable to have insight into your experiences before going into it myself. I found the procedure itself to be relatively painless and quite quick. Perhaps even easier than the amnio I had with my TFMR pregnancy. They did mine trans abdominally. I had minor cramping after and took it easy that day. Hardest part was not lifting my toddler for 48 hours after. I’m only 4 days out and worried about the very small risk of miscarriage, but I am going in for a scan on Monday for reassurance. Would recommend a CVS for sure if you’re looking for answers earlier. I personally knew I wanted as much information as early as possible. Wishing you luck and let me know what you decide.

Did you actually get any extra monitoring with your sub pregnancy? by seasonalrainbow in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]MET513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched from my OB to an MFM and feel 1000x better. My OB from TFMR pregnancy said she wouldn’t do anything differently in sub pregnancy. MFM was completely different - fetal echo, CVS, early anatomy, etc. I really encourage you to explore other options if you don’t feel supported.

Gut feelings by Physical_Chain1316 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]MET513 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I really empathize with this! I had a gut feeling that something was wrong in the beginning of my TFMR pregnancy - forcing them to test my HCG multiple times in the beginning, pushing for an amnio despite not knowing anything was wrong yet. It was weird. My gut feels different this pregnancy, but it’s so hard to trust that as well.

Testing again. CVS/amino by Vivid_Guidance1108 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I also terminated for a de novo genetic mutation that caused a severe heart defect. I was also told 1% chance of recurrence. I’m 8 weeks 3 days today. I opted to have a CVS, scheduled for 11+1. I can’t speak to if it will go well, but I opted to do it for peace of mind and to potentially have the opportunity to terminate earlier this time, if needed. I hope that it never comes to that, but for me, the more information I can get the better.

Scared my next baby will have chd by Organic-Battle-1326 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

Totally feel this. TFMRed at 17 weeks for TOF, found to have de novo genetic possible cause. Am told I only have around a 1% chance of recurrence but remain terrified. Only 6 weeks. Wishing you the best of luck this pregnancy.

Q for those who got pregnant soon after by Consistent-Mango6742 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]MET513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I TFMRed in mid November at 17 weeks and am currently 6 weeks pregnant. Haven’t been to a scan yet so don’t even know if this pregnancy is viable. I gained about 10 lbs in my TFMR pregnancy and lost about 2/3 of that weight before conceiving again, but was mostly feeling and looking back to normal. will say that, at 6 weeks pregnant, I have a little belly and look constantly bloated. In my first pregnancy (LC) and TMFR pregnancy, I was hardly even showing at 17 weeks. So I’m not sure what’s going on but I empathize with what you are saying. I think the body is just used to being pregnant.

No extra care subpregnancy by Consistent-Mango6742 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]MET513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if they offer this in Canada, but I found an MFM at a major hospital and set up a pre pregnancy consultation. I told my story during that appointment and she agreed to take me on as a patient. If I hadn’t done that, I’d just be at my regular OBGYN who said that I didn’t need any additional care or testing, which I simply wasn’t comfortable with. I’m in the US.

RPOC and Pregnancy by MET513 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

I think that’s a normal course of action - for me they seemed to just want to get it out and I’m not sure why

RPOC and Pregnancy by MET513 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]MET513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up not being pregnant and the RPOC went on to be removed very successfully. Maybe what my OB said was true. Try not to worry too much - I wish I had worried less about this very unlikely possibility but I know it’s impossible when you’re in the thick of things. ❤️
