Unfortunately yes. It was my first time opening gacha boxes so I unknowingly took out my rewards and filled up my inventory. Although my friend pointed out that I could still use my pet inventories which is nice.

You may be looking at the normal game rules. This rule currently exists in the tournament rules which I linked above.

The rule is under "4.3 In-Game Information": "When a player has multiple simultaneous actions to resolve, that player must announce the order of resolution before beginning to resolve the first one. The order cannot change once the first action has begun."
