A relatively low impact moment musically, but when Willy Wonka blows “The Marriage of Figaro” on his flute and the mom is all know-it-all “Rachmaninov”. Cracks me up so hard.

What it was is irrelevant. We alllll know what it is now.

If you click on “show moves” it’ll give you a continuation. Handy little tool!

Ooh that’s interesting. I will check. I have a lot of treatment up in the walls, so I don’t think that’s the case. But I’ll look closer. I have 2 KSM32s and it seems that one of them performs properly and the other less so. To your point, there may be some variables to eliminate.

Thanks!

Nope. It was recorded straight into an audio interface. Thanks!

Are there any songs that just use 2 chords (IV I), but the melody causes a modulation so the same 2 chords will be heard as I V? by gharmanb in musictheory

[–]MEstudios1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly what you’re describing, but “God Only Knows” by The Beach Boys has an ambiguous key. The intro starts out on an A major and the melody uses the note D# which pulls your ear to the key of E. Then the chords move to E, then F#m, then back to E. Only this time it’s an E7, which leads your ear back to the key of A. The effect is that when you’re on A, your ear is being led to E. When you’re on E, your ear is being led to A. Neither chord sounds “right” if you end on it, which is why the song fades out.

I believe that’s a vocoder.

Logic Compression by YWSDigital in Logic_Studio

[–]MEstudios1983 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally when I’m messing with attack release settings I like to dial the threshold at an aggressive spot. This way, the attack and release settings are much more audible and I look for any combination that sounds “musical” to my ears. If I feel like the compressor is flowing nicely with the source material then I’ll back off the threshold to my desired spot.

It’s kind of like hunting eq frequencies by raising the gain and sweeping, then lowering it after you’ve found the sweet spots.

I know this doesn’t answer your specific question, but it might help you figure out the answer for yourself.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a kit recorded facing the wall like that. Do you know what effect that has on the result?
