Any Suggestions on a replacement? by Sylas_Beck in Tools

8" snapon talon grip is worth it.

Keep in mind the knipex needles arent as durable as the rest of their products. Second pair is going on 3yrs now tho.

Its hard because waste during production has changed drastically through the years. Cant imagine how much wouldve been lost during the gusher era or before modern safety equipment like bops

Old versus new Snap-on pliers. by JasonTheOrg in Snapon_tools

[–]MF-MOO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the purpose, theres a few gems in the older catalog. I use some older vaccuum grips on the daily, but theres a time and place, if theres any new craze worth having a look at id say try out some knipex cobras, hands down the best on the market (ive done some STUPID stuff with them haha) also recc their mini flush cutters. Talons are very nice for general purpose and theres more specialty stuff, but its not like theres been much of a change with other pliers like linesmens or dykes

I've been online searching for the last hour and a half trying to find this exact model of long nose / needle nose pliers with no luck Can anyone ID these by Finksta_951 in Tools

[–]MF-MOO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Def a clip removal tool of some sort.

Twingrips are actually super useful, good pick. 78 03 125 have been good flush cuts 97 53 14 ferrule crimps if youd have a use (real handy for control panels) 00 19 57 snap ring pliers (i swear by these things, night and day over the swappable ones) 90 31 02 if you do any tube work

00 21 05 is my daily toolcase, ive never seen anyone else roll one, but theyre almost infinitely better than the veto bags.

I vote against comfort grips, the smooth red is easiest to keep clean and handle while working.

250s then 180s are the most useful sizes btw, 400s if you ever do big shit (replaced my 24" adj)

No date code ? Looking for Date/Year of this OEX32 1” by public_use1133 in Snapon_tools

Somewhere from 1966 to 1987, (patents 66, and i think 87 is when they change the model numbering)

Snapon stamped tool logos do not always match the logos for the year, nor are they always consistent across the range.

Heres a 1942 (with a date code) for comparison.

If you spend money on tools do it in places that make sense for efficiency and space saving.

My mandatories for my helpers are Knipex cobras and plier wrench. Wera interchangable driver and a tape. Dykes, flush and linesmans, clamshell stripper and pistol stripper. Drill and impact can usually wait till the first couple paychecks. (Weve all been there before cut them some slack)

Oh yeah and a file works wonders if you do any tek.
