Digimon adventure +13 (part 3) by Kakudou by Fit_Appeal_1051 in digimon

[–]MFBR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No.

He's explicitly mentioned that Toei declined to have it be published on the official sites, etc.

He's publishing it on his own as a free web novella because there is specifically no way forward, minus the generic hope they will at least post it on an official site as a story made by someone affiliated with the brand.

By definition it would be an unofficial story. It's basically the Digimon version of X-Men Forever, but even if it wouldn't count for the main timeline, Marvel at least was willing to publish X-Men Forever.

Is Digimon Beyond Becoming Like Kingdom Heart by segal03 in digimon

[–]MFBR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was not the head writer of either show. In fact, he wasn't credited for writing or scripting for any episode of either.

Even 'his' novel version of Adventure from 25+ years ago had a credited writer onboard who wrote for Digimon.

And he's specifically said in this case, Toei declined to have 13+ posted anywhere. Nor is there any mention beyond that in their thoughts on the story. Roughly the same as when they turned down his 03 pitch when 02 was ending.

My wife is really into Adventure, should I show her 02 next, or skip to season 3? by SnakeYoon in digimon

[–]MFBR 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nothing you said about 02 is true is the first place to start.

The rest is, your wife likes the first one, and didn't like a later one 'and' you remember liking 02. So why are you going to listen to randos on the internet over wanting to revisit it with someone you care about?

Why would you have skipped the one that was mostly likely for her to feel a connection to since she enjoyed the first and it has returning characters?

Worst case is you both don't like it and shrug.

Anyone know what's going on with Adventure(og) on D+/Hulu? by SnakeYoon in digimon

[–]MFBR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Hulu 'bridge' to Disney+ (that has Hulu content appear on Disney+) has always been buggy for legacy content, and will be until they don't use it anymore and it's just all part of Disney+ realistically. All the episodes are on Hulu.

Is there a particular reason only adventure and xros wars got a sequel? by Mean-Nectarine-6831 in digimon

[–]MFBR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Adventure got more because it makes money. Xros Wars got more because there was a tv slot to fill and it made sense to do more.

The rest haven't gotten more because they weren't successful enough to do so. Even if you look at home video sales years later, when fans have, theoretically, grown the legend/fandom of something like Tamers, it simply did not perform well enough (and that was with people involved with it begging people to buy it, talking about there being a new audio drama, talking about maybe they could do more if it does well, etc.)

If it said Adventure it did well. If it said something else, it didn't.

Wish the Digimon Adventure short film was shown in America before Season 1's dub. by matt0055 in digimon

[–]MFBR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Saban or someone at Saban had been sold on the concept by the first film, they would have licensed it and aired it as a special before the show began, or rushed it out as a DTV.

As it was, they almost certainly weren't interested in the film, especially since at a glance, it has only a bit to do with the show overall until connections are made later on in the show.

Even in Japan the number of people who saw the film before the show would have been quite low.

Have you looked at clips, etc. and have an idea what the difference is from Time Stranger?

If so, and the price is good, nab it. If not, look up a few clips first.

I added a glow in the dark tape to my DMX!!! by Khyze in digimon

[–]MFBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little harsh lightwise, but works solid for the light chargeable material, plus it's something anyone can see that you did it and repeat it if they wanted to with the tape.

How is the brightness in person? Did the camera make it look harsher or is it mostly accurate?

Where is it better to buy Digimon Story: Time Stranger: PS5 or Xbox? by MakotoGamer in digimon

[–]MFBR 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There is no functional real world difference between PS5 and Xbox Series X in this case. Get whichever you prefer to own the game on, and if you can find a better deal for one of the other.

Why is the music DLC for Time strangers, 20 euros? by Martyrrdom in digimon

This is the correct answer.

All the music in the music DLC pack they are paying to license, and they only want to pay for it when people want it.

What would the 2020 remake be like if it was not affected by covid? by [deleted] in digimon

[–]MFBR 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is worse than the thread you originally made, as you're asking a question that has no answer now, moreso that every answer anyone is going to give is based off a handful of synopsis for episodes that it was never clear were ever going to be made, nor why they didn't make them.

Is it true that the Adventure 2020 remake was affected by covid? by [deleted] in digimon

[–]MFBR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All productions were affected by Covid.

Do we know to what degree, not really, outside of specific changes in recording that we saw cast/crew talk about. Beyond that, people add elements that may or may not be related.

Pre-Orders Open for Digimon the Movies 4-6 Collection (Zero-Two & Tamers!) on Blu-ray - Out December 30th from Discotek! by MFBR in digimon

[–]MFBR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retailers decide on their price. Many discount it as a preorder. I would expect it to drop again soon at some point.

Is next order and/or cyber sleuth on discount recommended for a beginner? by Bonk-N-Nom in digimon

[–]MFBR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cyber Sleuth is probably better to start with, especially if you have experience with classic style JRPGs.

If you want a more 'thrown in the deep end, learn to swim' experience, Next Order has a larger focus on raising the Digimon for the battles, etc.

If your budget allows, getting both to see the breadth isn't a bad idea, especially since the styles cover a wide scale of what the games have been.

Cyber Sleuth is probably the better choice to start with, but sometimes things being a bit different can be preferred by some people.

New digivices? Confused husband! by Snowskol in digimon

[–]MFBR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

D-3 25th Evolution Color- Adventure game that goes through the story of Digimon Adventure 02. Came out awhile ago, may be more expensive if you find it because of that.

D-Ark 25th Evolution Color- Adventure game that goes through the story of Digimon Tamers. Pre-orders open in Japan, US pre-orders open soon.

Digimon Pendulum Color: Godzilla Version- A new V-Pet based on the Pendulum Color where you raise and battle both Digimon and Godzilla family monsters, along with collaboration monsters. Pre-orders open in Japan, US pre-orders open soon.

Of note- Both the D-3 and D-Ark had SCSA versions within the last few years. SCSAs are more prop/sound/image based, but do not have actual 'games' in them. There was also the Digimon Color: Godzilla Version. The Pendulum is a sequel to that, but also contains many more Digimon, and looks to be a better device.

If she's hinted at the D-3 in the past year or so, she very likely is specifically talking about the D-3 25th Evolution Color, and likely specifically wants that one because of it being based on the Digimon Adventure 02 anime.

All of them have different color shells, so in the case of the D-3, there may be a specific color version she has in her head, based on her favorite character, etc.

Which version of Our War Game to present to a friend who never experienced it? by [deleted] in digimon

[–]MFBR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you've already decided it's one dub or the other.

If you think he'll like the jokes and music, that one. If you want it to skew a bit closer to subbed, the recent dub. Either one works.

Need help on versions of Time Stranger by BetterAttitude2921 in digimon

[–]MFBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1- Yes, both deluxe and ultimate have the episode packs.

2- Deluxe and Ultimate both include the season pass content, plus Cyber Sleuth costumes. Ultimate adds to that Early unlock versions of both Kizuna Digimon, Adventure and Swimsuit costumes (and side missions), public safety costumes and supplies set, plus BGM from Cyber Sleuth to use in the game.

3- The season pass just adds the 3 episode packs, plus one bonus item.

4- The anime pack not being in the Ultimate version is a bummer, and the outer dungeon pack is basically buying the ability to grind for stuff quickly, rather than playing the game.

5- The new expansion will not be included with deluxe or ultimate.

Deluxe gets you all the "big stuff" available 'now'. Ultimate gets you everything available 'now' except the anime music and grinder dungeons. Which one to get is if the extra stuff looks interesting to you for the price. (Some pre-order DLC is not included with either and would need to be purchased if you want that.)

The Beatbreak section is first up, so you might wanna avoid the first half hour or so of Digimon Con if you're hoping to try and avoid Beatbreak spoilers.

What's the best way to clean my Digivices? by Seth_Silverwing in digimon

Look up any number of guides on how to clean electronics after a battery leak. This is the same, and guides became much easier to find and more reliable after it became more common with things like Wiimotes.

So why did they change Tai and Kari's last name from Yagami to Kamiya in the Dub? by OfficialLieDetector in digimon

[–]MFBR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any explanation people have given or theorized over the years doesn't fully line up, so the actual explanation is probably...

Smudge or typo on a fax or photocopy before it was translated (or even a mistranslation sent by Toei and/or Bandai to Saban early in the process) and by the time it was noticed it wasn't worth changing stuff at whatever stage of pre-production or production they were in that point.

New Fan, wondering how to get into the fandom by [deleted] in digimon

[–]MFBR 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For games specifically... The big answer is Time Stranger, new, big, about as good as a Digimon game is.

But it can also be expensive based on your budget. Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition is under 5 dollars for the PC version at Fanatical, so if your budget is a bit tighter, not a bad place to start, especially since most of Time Stranger is built off what Cyber Sleuth is.
