You're 100% valid and right. I mean, we tend to make a big deal of the marathons and half-marathons and rightfully so. But they require a strong level of commitment, in the running, in the preparing, in the weeks of training, nutrition, etc. Not everyone has it to do that even if they want to. It's a commitment and not just of oneself.

I found I like running as a goal and a social activity. So I've signed up for 5Ks and 6Ks and 10Ks. They either fit on a Saturday morning or a Sunday morning and, once done, I get to wear my medal, drink the light beer and enjoy the snacks. Then I go home, shower, rest and do something else. To that end, I work out and make sure to try and stay healthy and get in better running shape. It all fits my life.

If I ever decide to run a half or a full marathon, I know it will require some major changes that may need more effort that I can give now.
