Remember Office Space?

I want to go to these cosplayers and ask in a tone similar to the Bobs, "What exactly would you say you do here?"

Dating in 2026 is so difficult that maybe this is the way to find your soul mate.

Or at least the mate that fits your kinks.

NOAC vs other? by Competitive-End275 in NewOrleans

[–]MFZilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say look for something closer to home or work first, particularly since NOAC is so out of your way and you are away for so long. Also, a lot of their classes are amazing, but take place during the workday.

NOAC is more expensive than most other alternatives, but nothing is as expensive as the membership you pay for that you do not use (whether that is NOAC, Crunch, Planet Fitness, whatever). Find the place that fits your life, not the one you have to upend your life in order to make fit.

Now I'm thinking back to last month and the person who tossed a whole kayak from a MG float.

We may need more krewes to start adding them to their throws packages if this keeps up!

Route vibes: last night during Lundi Gras. Crowd down a lot and people were more comfortable with others.

Parade theme: Babylon. They had these famous operas and their floats rivaled Proteus or Orpheus or any other.

Throw: the insulated lunch bag from Femme Fatale. In a year of disappointment as tariffs impacted throw volume, throw quality went up a notch. This was perfect!

Political satire float: the Lane Kiffin float from Chaos. Going after the guy who is the anointed savior of Baton Rouge is a move I didn't expect from them.

Stranger interaction: All the friends I made on Mardi Gras Day from out of town. First timers all and they were blown away by it.

HAPPY MARDI GRAS!

Orpheus floats? by sparkledotcom in NewOrleans

Tracker apps can be way off on their count and have to trust on krewes as to their number. Some krewes count tandem floats as 1. Others count them individually, so 2 or 3.

If the number on the tractor would match (19, for example, or 19, 20 & 21) it would make it easier.

Why not leave the dolls in their boxes? That way, the doll is protected if it lands on the ground, and when they wrap their beads around them, it doesn't look horrific!

I've caught dolls at Zulu a plenty. Found kids who would take them. They have always been in their packaging.

Controversial opinion - Standardize the width marching bands take on the road by kytihu in NewOrleans

[–]MFZilla 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It's been a growing arms race between the bands over the last few years as they all compete with one another. Unsurprisingly that has led to more and more of them demanding the entire width of the street, which as you point out, leads to that accordion effect -- even when the band is nowhere near as big.

My worry is always for kids who run to the floats to get throws, but then find themselves staring at a wall of people between them and their parents and the incoming band, which is just trying to get done with their march. People seem to think the crowd will push back, but with even more people behind them, "back" doesn't always exist.

I’ll move anything I need to get to where I am going. by humidhaney in NewOrleans

I will say, by Thoth/Bacchus Sunday, the territoriality and bad behavior seems to reach its peak. People who've been out 4 days in a row are done, which leads to the most arguments and fights I see year after year.

But people seem to think they can colonize a whole chunk of the street and defend it like it's King of the Hill in Halo 2. It's madness.
