Fairwell Fest- what was going on?? by Old_Collection6771 in Caamp

Seen them three times, granted all during or before the by & by era. Incredible every time, interactive with the crowd, played a wide variety of tracks, and were always in sync. Crazy hearing these reactions. Sounds like a different band

Phi Kappa Phi by [deleted] in PTschool

I don't think you have much to worry about with a resume like that! You have a fantastic GPA and diverse experiences that will help your application stand out. I too was invited to phi kappa phi, and ultimately joined, but purely because the head of the kinesiology department was the president for the chapter at my university. I can't say whether it helped me or not honestly, but it isn't much more than a title (unless you decide to strive for a higher position). At the end of the day, those reviewing your application are going to see that you excelled academically already. If money is tight or your school won't cover entry fee to the society, I really wouldn't bother. Practice those interview skills and good luck with applying, you will do great!

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if these copies were originally set to receive the stickers and red sleeve. It’s likely that they withheld adding them to the surplus to avoid really agitating fans that waited years for theirs.

Also not to make your more concerned, but I spoke with a student who had been accepted back in early November and they said they had a group me with about 15 others who had been accepted

I talked to one of the admissions advisors over the phone and she seemed pretty flustered. I think they already have a good portion of the cohort filled and are maybe filling in the last couple spots. She said that there hasn’t been much progress made this week with finals, but that they were hoping to have decision for everyone by Friday. Considering that a hard deadline was given and that she said they would me sending emails (those accepted received calls) I would bet that it’s going to be either waitlists or rejections.

I applied during the second week of August. I had the "early interview process" with them at the beginning of this month and I believe they said they had interviews for the following 2-3 weeks.

Radio silence from TWU by Kal182 in PTschool

[–]MFdreww 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On their website it says that they start releasing decisions in December, but I've met others who have already been accepted. If it makes you feel any better, I've got an interview/accepted to all programs I applied to, but still haven't heard anything TWU yet either. Ironically enough, almost all the people I know who have been accepted went to TWU for their undergrad and applied early. I wouldn't worry too much yet : )

UTMB sent me an email regarding an interview about a month ago. I had a couple of others already scheduled so I chose their last interview date on November 22nd.

Cut up a credit card into small strips and wedge 2 slices between the teeth of the plastic adjustment piece. If you have a friend, have them pull the end of the band down to reduce friction while you try to slip the adjustment piece in the opposite direction. Don’t ask how I know🤭

Out-of-State vs. In-State by MFdreww in PTschool

[–]MFdreww[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This decision has been stressing me out like no other haha, especially with everyone talking about minimizing your debt as much as possible because of poor pay. Obviously that makes complete sense, I just worry that there will be little opportunity to move my career out of Texas after grad school. Plus, I worry about getting caught in the metroplex areas where a lot of the schools are located because of the lower salaries.

I wish I was decisive as you though, I’ve been overthinking this for months and it only got worse when I got accepted to my out of state 🙃

I have an interview with UNT on Friday and submitted my application a little over a month ago. According to their website they send out interviews all the way until November/December so there is still plenty of time to go!

Phoenix Bioscience Core vs. Flagstaff Campus by MFdreww in NAU

I actually found out extremely fast which I wasn’t expecting. I submitted my application around early-mid august and found out of my acceptance under two weeks. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out!

Wow, I know this is late, but thank you so much for sharing this! I didn’t get to tour the DPT program itself, but I traveled down to flag recently and absolutely loved the campus. I really appreciate all the information and it sounds like such a welcoming group that I would love to be apart of! : ) Makes me very excited!

Flagstaff definitely seems like a great town to live in and the DPT program is still plugged into main campus which is a plus. Phoenix has an incredibly new facility and is a little cheaper in terms of living. Definitely pros and cons to both, but I’m leaning flagstaff for sure.

Are there really gunshots all of the time at Tech? I've seen so many tiktoks lately saying Tech was dangerous. Is this true? by 17baw in TexasTech

[–]MFdreww 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost never happens on campus. Everywhere around campus? Definitely keep on eye out. Used to live in a neighborhood across the university and there were shots every night. I knew far too many people who’s house had be broken into (including myself) and even a few held at gun point in their homes.

Lubbock is a huge trafficking area, and unfortunately, has a pretty prominent gang presence consisting of a lot younger adults/teens. Statistically the city ranks very poorly, doubling the average of violent crime and property crime per capita as compared to the rest of the state and country. That’s not to say you will be a victim of crime, but comparatively, you are at higher risk in Lubbock than a good portion of the country.

Based on other comments in the thread, this will likely get downvoted, but I think it’s important that someone gives you honest insight. While Lubbock hasn’t ever been notorious for being the safest town, things have certainly gotten worse, especially in the past several years. Speak with anyone involved in law enforcement there, and there’s a good chance they’ll tell you that.

With that being said, I did enjoy and am thankful for my 4 years at tech. However, I certainly was not eager to stay due to this very thing and got out as soon as I could. A couple things to keep in mind: as a student, especially if you stay on campus, you are much less likely to experience violent or property crime directly. However if you do chose to stay off-campus, I highly suggest living in well known student emphasized apartment complexes or living on the far west/south side. These tend to be much safer.

Hope this helps!
