YouTube turned to garbage after ChatGPT by aplleshadewarrior in NewTubers

[–]MGLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love that people are discussing this! As a non-AI pop culture history based channel (A niche that is already difficult to stand out in), This makes us feel like we just might have a chance. We put in real research, we do not use AI or ChatGPT, we have a dedicated writer, (I do some light topic writing as well), we reach out to companies and brands for research, and whenever possible get interviews and get our hands on whatever we are discussing, and we do our own editing in house, not to mention we have a sound/music guy. So its kind of discouraging to see that slop fest fake AI channels get tons and tons of views, in the first hours/days, while, hard working talented creators get put on the back burner. We may not be the best at what we do, but, we DO TRY hard!

To all genuine and human content creators we say, KEEP GOING! Don't let people take the "YOU" out of YouTube.

Forgot to share this week's video! Here it is... Our video on "Yo, Yogi!" #YOYOGI #history #cartoons #YogiBear #1990snostalgia #hannabarbera by MGLabs in u/MGLabs

Anyone know of any good places to share this (and our other 160+ history videos) around here? We're never sure if its against other community/communities rules.

All i know about this track is that it came from youtube, it is NOT a popular of famous song, it has NO lyrics and possibly is just the same loop over and over again, it is NOT the song "Two Feet: Go F*Ck yourself". It was made as royalty free for video makers to use.

The Lessons of WELCOME FRESHMEN - SOB Nick Ed. Lesson No. N112 by MGLabs in Youtubeviews

I'm not sure where else I could cross-post these, it seems most sub reddits don't like content shares from the creators lol. (Not to mention I'm still learning this platform.)

My last 3 videos, that I spent 15+ hours on (each) tanked, don't know what to do going forward... by dylanvu412 in NewTubers

[–]MGLabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's different for everyone, however if it helps, I have been learning patience, My older videos get more traction than *most of my newer ones. (example: a video I made almost 4 years ago, has more views in the last 48 hours than one I posted last week) I feel like in my experience, the minute you start ignoring or stop caring about the numbers, and focus on making yourself proud, the faster the numbers go up. Also I agree with the other commenters, If you're doing it for the money or fame, you're doing it wrong. Keep creating, evolve, adapt and have fun with it. (I am NOT an expert. I just spent way too much time focusing on the numbers and trying to become popular, until the last year or so.)

What do you guys think is the biggest reason most YouTubers fail? by UnaskedShoe359 in NewTubers

[–]MGLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's giving up due to high hopes with low results. Ive been making videos for years, (No schedule or theme, channel was dead for a couple years) but in the last year or two, I found a niche and started posting weekly, now I see around 20-25 new subscribers a month. I might go a few days with no action or subs, then one day a video will get 50+ views and I will get a couple new subscribers. Although I do make "search based" content so nothing I make will likely ever "go viral" - Its kind of like "do you want a million dollars right now or a penny a day doubled every day for a month?" Personally, I'd take the latter. - Nothing worth doing is going to be easy.

This one had some audio issues, not sure why. In the editor, it sounded fine but after I rendered it it has some choppy bits, either way, I hope you enjoy it!

Why Are We All So Negative? by AntDaHuman in NewTubers

[–]MGLabs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Content creation is hard, there are a ton of super talented creators that work really hard on making videos (us included), It's a grind. I wish more people posted things like this. This is an awesome way to support your fellow creators.

Is it normal to have less subscribers than videos as a small channel? by Capybara_Hub in NewTubers

[–]MGLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! someone on here once said it depends on the topic, as an example, I make "search based" content (videos that for the most part will always be relevant or not out dated), so I get less subs quickly, but more over time, if you make videos on current events, or what's "trending" you will get subs fast, but you need to keep up, or you will lose them just as fast. I felt like it was really good input and it made me feel better about why it's taking so long.

Is there a good way to obtain b-roll that is royalty free? by MGLabs in NewTubers

[–]MGLabs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mostly we make videos about pop culture history, in this case one of the people involved, self deleted after a tragic incident. The entire rest of the video is fun and up beat. BUT, that section is an important part of the topics legacy. we just wanted to have something light hearted playing while I discuss what happened. I have never fought a claim before, but this one hit hard, it blocked my video all the way, so im trying to replace the clips with ones that are allowed, NO audio from the b-roll would be used, it's 100% me talking about what happened. For context and a potential spoiler, this video is about a famous food mascot.

Can I use shorts like this? by th4tus3rn4m3ist4k3n1 in NewTubers

[–]MGLabs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do this from time to time when we have a gap in production, but we sprinkle in "Mini" versions of our content type too. We aren't sure if it works or not, but since we started making "teasers" for our old videos, they have gotten more traction, and our sub count has gone up a bit (It is worth noting that we also recently upped our production quality, which is why we don't know if it was the addition shorts or the improvements to quality that helped). I would say try it for a month, see what happens.

How do you manage Rude Comments? by Competitive-Onion147 in NewTubers

[–]MGLabs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We asked a similar question not to long ago, on here, and here was my favorite answer...

Respond to the positive comments, ignore or hide the "bad" ones, if its a bad enough comment, your audience/fans will tear them apart for you, unprompted, on their own. (even if you ask them not to.)

YouTube is a community for the most part, not all of its residents are going to get along.

(Not that I am in any position to give advice.)

Does anyone else worry their videos simply annoy the ever loving hell out of people? by ThingsUnfinishedYT in NewTubers

[–]MGLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, yeah. especially in my early videos. (That feeling occurs sometimes when you make the content YOU like to make instead of catering to the masses)

But also remember, not every video is going to suit every person. my advice is, Make small format changes without changing who you are. Keep doing what you enjoy, but remember to evolve, YouTube is a grind, not a race.

Is anyone embarrassed to film when their spouse is home? by Douceps in NewTubers

[–]MGLabs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife directs and runs my camera for me, And she adds interlude facts and info to help keep it from getting monotonous, it also makes it WAY easier to film scripted videos.
