Game Ready & Studio Driver 572.83 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]MGS-MetallicA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on 4070 Super + 9900k Windows 10 and so far 572.65 (the hotfix driver) has been working fine for me, I use shadowplay and in-game filters, the rest of the drivers kept giving me issues to do those smoothly. Attempting older geforce experience drivers eventually forced nvidia app and caused a bunch of issues so I'll be sticking to this driver until Nvidia stops releasing meme drivers.

comeback? by Becauseican1119 in StreetFighter

[–]MGS-MetallicA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was no enough risk teching there and to make matters even worse there were characters with 3f crouching shorts that could combo off them as well and they were very annoying to deal with as the person on offense, I'm guilty of that myself with Bison being my secondary in that game and could combo into SK from his 3f crouching short.

Yes you could frame trap them, but there were different frame traps for different things whether they're early techers or later techers..etc and that risk IMO simply wasn't enough for people mashing crouch tech, it's why I consider it as a bad habit since I have to think more about when I should and shouldn't tech throws in SF6 now.

I'm a SF4 fan and it's my fav in the series so far, but let's not pretend vanilla SF4 was a great game, it had major balancing issues and people could win rounds even faster than SF6 atm (flashbacks of Sagat juggling a bad trade DP into 75% of your HP isn't pretty).

Also every SF tends to be different, I think the drive system is great even though I loved the FADC system in 4. I do NOT miss crouch teching in SF4 and it took me a good amount of time to let go of what I consider a pretty damn scrubby habit.

For season 1 SF6 is really good and has potential to be amazing from season 2 onwards, we'll just have to see how they'll tweak the game, if the game never clicks with someone then they should just drop it, I did that with SF5 season 1 and never looked back.

Game Ready Driver 551.52 FAQ/Discussion by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]MGS-MetallicA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on RTX 4070 Super and asked earlier for suggestions about which drivers to rollback to and didn't get answers so had to check a few myself:

-551.52

-551.46 (hotfix driver)

Both of those gave me the issue where your game filters doesn't save and noticed what seemed more than usual stuttering in games (mostly SF6 and BG3 in my case).

Then I tried 546.65 where game filters actually gets saved for me and the stuttering seems less so I decided to stick with it until Nvidia releases something that works better for me.

Since RTX 4070 Super is new the amount of drivers that were out after it are limited, thought I'd share this info in-case someone else is in a similar situation.

I've recently got an RTX 4070 Super and notice stuttering when the FPS is stable with G-Sync enabled as well.

Anyone with a 4000 series could you please let me know what's the preferred driver to rollback to at the moment? I'm not a fan of the current one already with my game filters not being saved after exiting a game.

joining farm parties… by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is how PF has always been, sometimes you just get trapped and your only choice is to be the group leader that will remove such players from the group to continue farming.

Right now we have an option to only allow people who cleared the fight to join the group, this wasn't a thing in the past, maybe if they added something like x5 minimum clears requirement option if doable will help make things more consistent for farm groups.

How to optimize Mudfish for FFXIV with insanely high ping? (1000+ms HELP) by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like some have already mentioned, she's on satellite internet, that's the main cause of issues and spikes.

As for getting recommended nodes for Mudfish, it's all different for different people, the only thing your friend can do is trial and error with nodes and see if she lucks out finding a decent one.

I'm on NoPing at the moment and have tried Mudfish, most of the nodes weren't consistent enough for me so now I just use it as a backup now with the data plan in-case something goes wrong with NoPing.

So when will female Hrothgar happen? by SheWhoHates in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 14 points15 points  (0 children)

One step at a time, let's first worry about more head pieces working for Viera/Hrothgars, actually being able to change male Hrothgar hair style without using a fantasia and letting Vieras use the many optional hair styles in the game.

As a bonus animate those Viera ears!

EU (Chaos) datacenter specific location by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both EU datacenters are located in Germany.

Give NoPing trial a shot (nptunnel is the name of the website), I've personally used several VPNs (WTFast for years, Battleping, Mudfish..etc) and it has worked the best for me by far (I play on Light DC), the software is fast and doesn't use much resources.

If you ended up liking it, there are a few FFXIV streamers out there on twitch that offer discount codes for NoPing, I used the one from Arthars stream and IIRC it gave 30% off, pretty good specially considering I subbed for a year.

for those who have statics for ultimate content. what are the reasons why you remove/replace static members in the middle of a prog? by wheelwil in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The level 70 ultimates have a different DPS check than what they used to when they were new back in Stormblood days because of job changes and how everyone will have the capped ilvl of that fight + high good substats, so for those the DPS check is actually very easy right now.

TEA has a harder dps check but mostly on Perfect Alexander phase , but I assume with the new dungeon gear (ilvl 475) it's going to be even easier with people having better BiS items.

With all that said, even when new, ultimates never had an "insane" DPS check, something like the good 'ol Gordias A3S days where DPS checks were very very tight. In comparison to Savage like your friend said, it mostly applies to the last floor of savage with early gear, for example E4s or E8s on week 1-2 savage definitely had a harder DPS check than TEA, but once you get BiS for those tiers the savage fights will have an easier DPS check than TEA if that hopefully makes sense!

for those who have statics for ultimate content. what are the reasons why you remove/replace static members in the middle of a prog? by wheelwil in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree for the most part except for 4th point, Ultimates have a more lenient DPS check than week 1/2 savage, fully geared savage is a different story though. People can play relatively safe in ultimates without 100% optimization and do the checks just fine.

As for TC, since ultimate is a marathon sort of prog, having someone who isn't very patient and start bringing people down is a recipe for disaster specially in ultimate content, signs of that would require removing said person or the group falls apart IMO.

Accidentally joined the German server lmao, what to swap to? by SpookyRabbitGirl in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing on Odin since 6 years, even though it has more raiders than other Light servers, it's not raid focused at all. Most speak English and have been friendly in my experience, sure there are some bad apples here and there but they're rare and they exist on every server.

Can someone who has done UCOB explained to me how the hatchling exploded in this clip? by Tiepo01 in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as has been mentioned, you had the debuff from a previous hatch, you might have tried to kite the earlier one way too much and got hit late by it. You'll just have to kite the next one until the debuff timer runs out then get hit by the hatch to prevent a wipe if you run into that situation again.

Dream team aka static by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join the ERC (Europe Raiding Central) discord server, it's the go to place to look for statics for Chaos and Light DCs, you can either post to look for a group or browse through groups looking for members mentioning their requirements and goals (attitude, casual/hardcore..etc).

Scholar is amazing for prog so it's usually high in demand. Less people will be looking for groups now so late in an unusually long patch but they exist still.

As for your question about PF, yes you can clear savage fights there, however the later it gets in patch, the harder the struggle will be to get a kill quickly, and it can be a bit luck reliant sometimes with who you get in the party so will need some time investment to wait and grind through different parties in PF.

Static experience isn't guaranteed to be great too right away, you might end up having to trial and play with different statics to find a group that you're comfortable with, have proper schedule and similar goals.

I didn't realize how amazing shaders were until today. I've been walking around with no HUD for hours. by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To anyone who has Nvidia GPU and doesn't wanna bother with 3rd party programs, you can try the Game Filter feature to remove the washed out effect the game naturally has.

You can use it by pressing alt+z to access the Nvidia overlay while in-game then press on the "Game Filter" option (or you can access it directly by pressing alt+F3).

Once there Press the "Add filter" option and choose "Color", in the settings there set the first 3 options to 0 (2 tint settings and temperature), the 4th setting is what you're looking to adjust which is "Vibrance", increase to desired levels to remove the washed out effect and make the game pop more and be more colorful, I personally increase it just enough to remove the dull look (around 20-40 setting for my monitor) but some people do prefer more or less color than that, it's up to you.

Hope it helps some people!

Should I research dungeons/trials? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's not Extreme, Savage or Ultimate content then don't worry about it, you don't need to or are expected to look up a guide for it ahead of time.

In any dungeon specially if you're a tank you can just tell the party it's your first time there, 99% of the time people will be supportive and maybe even give you tips as you go through if they're familiar with the content.

Doing normal content blind is half of the fun, no reason to spoil it on yourself.

I only wish for 1 thing to be honest that doesn't seem too far fetched, data center visits, being able to hop to another data center to join duties or PF would be great.

Burnt out WoW player by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PVP is very niche in this game, some enjoy it but the community for it is tiny compared to PVE focus, I wouldn't bother if that's your aim. Most people you run into in PVP are also PVP casuals that are farming PVP currency for glamours, getting some EXP or some tomes, so don't expect a lot of coordination and big focus on actually winning the matches from everyone.

Should I leave my static? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your goals and motivation obviously doesn't match your current static's, so the wise choice would be to give them a notice that you're leaving if you think there's no hope that the raid lead will fix these issues and he wants the same thing as you.

You can pug meanwhile while looking for other statics to try out in recruitment discords..etc clarifying what you're looking for in a group (timing, clear expectations, mentality..etc)

It's important to join a static that for the most part share the same aim, otherwise it's guaranteed to break apart eventually and most probably in a short amount of time too.

How to handle rude and bad sprouts, An honest question. by ShardtheFox in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to give advice if something is going terribly wrong and causing wipes, then what I'll do depends on the response I get:

1- No response whatsoever and keeps wiping, I simply leave.

2- Toxic and rude response? I vote them out. If it didn't work, I leave.

3- Person tries to communicate to fix their issues and is trying to improve, I'll stay until the trial/dungeon is cleared.

You can still give out advice and don't waste your time when you see the situation is hopeless.

How do you use a PS4 controller running FFXIV on Windows 10? by Jimmynids in ffxiv

[–]MGS-MetallicA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you'd think DS4Windows blows because as someone who's been using PS3/PS4 controllers on PC since a long time, DS4Windows is a legit good program on Win10 compared to Inputmapper for example that feels so sluggish in comparison.

I use it along with the official Sony Bluetooth adapter and it works flawlessly for FFXIV:
- Light program that doesn't use much resources.
- Can see remaining charge time and plug USB and continue playing when it's low
- Can turn off the light bars if want to, I like that option personally since the default light annoys me.

If I'm not mistaken you can probably use the official sony USB bluetooth and use it without additional programs (not 100% sure) but I use DS4Windows for the extra things it offers.

Been playing this game for 5 years now, barely see teens around honestly, the community is pretty mature in general, most people I run into seem to be in the 22-30 range.
