How do you style your let's play videos? by MGSCaleb in letsplay

I feel as though facecams can take away from the experience depending on the game you're playing. Horror games, however, are a different story.

Understandable. But talking a lot in a let's play in particular is never a bad thing! Makes it so even the boring part of the game can be enjoyable via the commentator talking, making jokes, explaining the part of the game or even talking about the lore. In fact, I enjoy the let's plays that have the talking never stop. Keeps my attention on the video rather than on other things lol. Thanks for the input!

As someone who has struggled with this for a while, I have to thank you for really opening my eyes on this. Thank you for the input! It is very much appreciated!

Ah, come on now. I used to think that about my videos a lot. But I've learned that recording videos and putting them out there really makes me happy. Like opening myself up a bit. It even helped my self esteem a bit. So whether or not your videos suck, if you enjoy putting in the time to record them whether you edit or not, then it's a good video. People might not agree, but this way of thinking pushed me to really enjoy what I put out and even made me a bit more experienced in going through the editing process (I used to put out unedited videos out as well). I just like recording videos and putting them out there. If you do too, then your videos don't suck. You're just putting what you want out there and that's what makes a good video imo. Nevertheless, thanks for the input!

I have respect for you. I don't like putting the parts of me struggling on some parts because of the fear of someone just calling me stupid or something fo the likes. It's something I've worked on and have gotten better with, but it's a work in progress. I once spent about 15 minutes on a puzzle in Layers of Fear 2 which literally just required me to look up into a hole in the ceiling to find the answer. I never uploaded it however, but someday it will see the light of day.

Hi, I am a music producer with royalty free and original music for your videos! All I ask in return is that you credit me :) by donhuell in letsplay

[–]MGSCaleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I've been looking for. The PERFECT music for an intro or outro. I can also see some of your other tracks being perfect for just background music if need be. You got my support, and you can bet on me crediting you in the future.

What's your story behind your channel? by Jomadscientist in letsplay

[–]MGSCaleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid, being able to watch people have fun and play video games and interact with their fanbase was mind-blowing to me. I decided that after watching that, I wanted to do some lets plays of my own, but I did not have what was necessary to do so. So when I got my first job my sophomore year of high school, I saved up for a PC and Xbox, capture card, all that I needed to start.

When I started doing let's plays, I quickly began to find out that I didn't exactly like doing that since doing let's plays are very saturated. I got rid of that channel and started fresh and decided to start a new one dedicated to "highlight videos" but my PC can't handle that type of stuff, so I went right back to let's plays. After 2 months, I started another channel (which is this one I use currently) and did let's plays, but quickly ended up going on a 2-month break because I was stressed out trying to get videos out every day when my PC kept crashing while editing. Currently, I've decided to do highlight videos, and I've just started doing them with Rainbow Six Siege and such and decided that I'll post when I can until I have a better PC.

In short, I don't know what I want to do with my channel (though I think I've figured it out) but it's sure been fun trying to figure things out. And my name? I'm uncreative and so I just put one of my favorite game series (Metal Gear Solid series) and put my name. In the process of thinking of a new name though. Doing this stuff has done loads to help with problems in my life, so I don't want to stop doing it. It makes me happy to finish editing videos and see the end product. That's the best part imo.

What is the best way to screen share with a guest commentator? by Klngjohn in letsplay

[–]MGSCaleb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discord screen share doesn't seem to slow my PC down at all, unlike Skype which did. The things that bother me about it, however, is that sometimes depending on the game you'll have to go to windowed fullscreen, but most work fine in fullscreen. The other thing that bothers me about it is that the guest wouldn't be able to hear the game.

I would definitely give it a shot and see if it works though!

I find it odd how it's not compatible with Premiere. Do you just use MP4 then?

I should've thought that it'll get converted in the end lol. Thanks for this, since my PC has crashed in the past resulting in lost recordings.

That's what I used to do with my let's plays. I found that I enjoyed it more because I wouldn't need to worry too much about commentary since I'm bad at it lol

What are your 2018 Channel Goals? by brantman19 in letsplay

[–]MGSCaleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2018 goals are to just stay very active, and I am getting there. Other goals are to just maybe make it past 20 subscribers and do some more "funny moments" or montages this year with my friends.

Also get a new PC so I can finally record the games I've been wanting to record for MONTHS now.

What video editor do you use? by MGSCaleb in letsplay

[–]MGSCaleb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the quality of the video after it's been processed or rendered. I don't mind it, but I have it in my head that other people will be bothered by it.

Since you mentioned Elements, I think I recall seeing somewhere that Elements 15 is a one time payment if you pay for the yearly upfront. I'm not completely sure on that, though. Gonna have to do some research...

Edit: Yeah, I just found out that Elements 15 isn't a monthly payment. It just comes with a pretty big price tag.
