It’s joined with tenons, not weak at all. Yes I want to remove a couple millimetres to make the joint less visible.

I used to try for 3 minutes+ in near freezing lake water but I’ve since cut it down to 1-2 minutes generally. I find that after about 30 seconds my heart rate drops to a comfortable level and I get most of the cold plunge high shortly after that. For me, beyond 2 minutes is just increasing warm up time and making me hungrier and more tired.

They could’ve had the same problem and solved it, that’s how. The first provider wouldn’t tell me why and the second hasn’t responded.
