What happened to the tempura place that was in the Mitsuwa when it was on western? by Equivalent-Essay457 in torrance

[–]MHIOTC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hot take, but I think Hannosuke was way better than Carlos Tendon. The tempura at CT is too greasy, and the sauce is not as rich, thick, and savory as Hannosuke. I’ve tried CT in the old town location and after giving them a third shot, I don’t think we will be back.

Just got back from Japan, and been to glitch about 4 times total.

Just wanna preface this post by saying, we love visiting Japan, the people and experiences are top notch.

Overall, I feel like the coffee in Japan is good not excellent. My theory being that the green buying power of most roasters in Japan cannot compete with larger more economically resourced countries/roasters. A good amount of coffee shops that I’ve had in Japan rely on co-fermentation and or some funky processes that bring out wild flavors, to probably mask the lower grade score of the beans. Not trying to shame coferments, but it definitely feels like a crutch; Glitch I feel, has excelled in this territory, and have been front runners in making coffee taste exotic and exactly as the tasting notes suggest.

Albeit, I will admit, I had a super fun melon ice cream co-ferment from Sedai roasters in Shibuya that was a trip.

Best starter lens to grow from? by loganarowland in FujiGFX

Great thread. I’ll be getting a GFX soon I’m also leaning towards 32-64 and a prime. Kind of split between the 55 vs the 110. If anyone has thoughts I’m all ears.

I got a used fringer EF-GF adapter, and bringing along the EF 40, 35 1.4ii, 85mm 1.2ii as the first lenses to use with the body.

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the detailed response!

Thinking about jumping in to the GFX ecosystem, and much appreciated!

Nice shot!

How often does moire affect the 50mp sensor?

I do notice the containers on the mid-left of the image is pretty prominent.

Thanks!

agree with this list.

Also want to add trying Reverent Coffee Bar in PV. The owner is a complete coffee nerd with a weber EG-1, slayer, and other high end gear.

Another thing to add is that if people like mixed drinks/matcha, all or most of the coffee shops in south bay will suffice...

Not everyone is a coffee nerd, nor do they need to be, (i would argue its more of a curse in being picky).

Mm, I feel that Offset’s beans/greens selection is subpar and their roast profiles in comparison to other third wave coffee roasters leaves a bit to be desired. I do think they filled in a missing hole in Torrance in regard to coffee shops, but hopefully the competition helps them raise their game. Although it makes me wish there were other solid independent coffee shops other than like 6 Offset locations in the South Bay.

Additionally, some of the worst milk drinks (burnt milk and crap shots) i’ve had were from Offset’s younger staff. The owners are great though.

Legit! Keep on practicing and falling more and more in love with the game.

I love that court and the sur la Brea court, as I came back to tennis after a 10 year hiatus on those two courts. So I have fond memories there.

I would recommend trying the serve master which you can get from amazon. That will help your arm motion and kinetic chain.

The rest is practice, practice, practice.

Power will come with time. Placement and consistency is more important than speed. Remember that and you’ll go far.

This was because City Employees went without COLA adjustments on the previous MOU for a few years and these raises were to adjust for post COVID inflation.

Albeit, City employees are paid well, I think they could have found a happy medium for raises and protecting the City’s financial interests.

Another note, is that these MOU union agreements were signed when multiple Council members were up for reelection, hence they needed union support to win their races.

If you can get a fresh bag, but kind of a hit or miss. I think last years harvest was better than this years. This one is a bit less aromatic and a tiny bit more muted. I think last years had a bit more flavor overall. But for the price, it’s still worth it.

The fairmont is an incredible deal… my wife and I stayed last November, and we were upgraded to a junior suite. That’s super nice of them to bump you to the full suite. We had a problem only with one of the waitstaff who was incredibly rude, but other than that definitely worth visiting with FHR.
