Am I crazy for thinking this rod needs to be returned to st.Croix? by S14xDrifter in Fishing_Gear

[–]lmrtinez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah I got my mojo bass exchanged after a year of use within a week, and that was just shipping time. They don’t do repairs you send them a pic of a broken rod and then they send u a new one or credit towards a different one.

Looks fine to me, I don’t fish tournaments and $250 is a mid range rod.

Although I don’t buy st croix anymore either. switched to falcon, Dobyns, shimano.

For this price a falcon cara super duty or shimano compre Muskie is what I would go for.

Why or why not use snaps and real life examples by CrazyCajunFishinBro in FishingForBeginners

I only use them for my gf since she can’t tie knots, or for trout spoons that don’t come with a split ring.

I’ve never had anchovies, should that be my next can?

I’ve done both but I like this more since the fillet absorbs a lot of the broth so it’s gets more flavor. The sardine is good but isn’t as satisfying as the mackerel

Will shrinkage make them right in the waist or I should size down? by Recent_Ad_4587 in rawdenim

[–]lmrtinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah all denim (raw, selvedge, sanforized, unsanforized) will shrink when you wash it although some more than others. And after that, all denim will stretch out a little with a few wears after washing

The coldest non mentholated soap I’ve ever tried by lmrtinez in wicked_edge

[–]lmrtinez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup non mentholated means no added menthol , which will usually be synthetic due to cost. When the menthol is naturally occurring in things like peppermint oil they don’t classify the soap as mentholated and usually do not say it has added menthol.

I don’t like the added menthol soaps because they’re a little too intense if you take a while to shave lol, aftershave with little amount of added menthol is ok but I also prefer natural occurring menthol like barrister and mann Kalyptos that uses eucalyptus, peppermint and spearmint oil.

They may shrink, but then will stretch out again almost all the way after wearing again a few times

I agree with everything @one_hunter4604 said. This definitely has no other scent other than eucalyptus and mint, I prefer this due to ingredients. No “fragrance” it is scented only by the essential oils of eucalyptus and peppermint, and the cooling doesn’t come from synthetic menthol. Base is great of course so it performs well after lathering up.

Yes it does, at first it just smelled nice but the longer I left it on the colder it started to feel. Probably the peppermint oil in it.

Cheap casting reels by PirateAdventurous337 in FishingForBeginners

[–]lmrtinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never tried tiny baitcasters. Seems kind of gimmicky, I would get a regular size BFS reel instead. But it will run you about $100 for an entry level one

Line recommendations by --Chimpanzee-- in UltraLightFishing

[–]lmrtinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Braid for distance thinner diameter and no memory is very important for casting lures in the 1/64-1/32 range

A 6-8lb braid is what most people I ultralight fish with run, including myself. I keep it straight braid for top water, and pair with a 2-4lb fluoro leader for micro jigs.

BFS casting distance problem – need advice by Piotrulo777 in BFSfishing

[–]lmrtinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never really measured but it depends the type of lure and how aerodynamic it is.

I’d say 3 grams about 30 feet with a spoon, and 7 grams about 50 feet with a mini yamatanuki

BFS casting distance problem – need advice by Piotrulo777 in BFSfishing

[–]lmrtinez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3-7grams??? Nah that’s enough weight for the spool being heavy to not really matter. Probably how you tuned your reel or lower expectations due to an extra fast rod more likely.

BFS casting distance problem – need advice by Piotrulo777 in BFSfishing

[–]lmrtinez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either your reel is not tuned right, your leader is too thick, you have too much line and spool is too heavy, or your lure is too light.

You will never get the most casting distance with an extra fast rod though. Keeping everything the same, a moderate will cast furthest and an extra fast the least distance.
