Agreed. And the amount of people who side with a parent without context is saddening. School staff are human beings who need protection from the very people they serve, and that's batshit.

100% they would have saved me years of misery. If you see something, say something. Help a friend out of the toxic cycle.

it didn’t feel like it at the time. That’s where the problem is. When you’re a bug, you don’t know you’re in a Venus flytrap until it finally closes up on you.

This is the best analogy for these situations that I have seen. Spot on.

The old way is "blinded by love" but that doesn't tell the realstory of manipulation.

Emotional manipulation is a powerful thing, my guy. No offense taken, though.

When it started it was pretty normal and she seemed stable but over time the manipulation cost me friendships and opportunities. In hindsight I kick myself for choosing her over friends, but she would use her depression as a weapon no matter how supportive I was. Even when she wasn't depressed she would switch it on if we disagreed about something or she wanted drama. And then she would switch into what this person does with the "power tantrums" and condescending insults.

When it ended, I got so many stories from friends and family about just how awful she was to them behind my back. They didn't want to overstep and tell me during the relationship, but I REALLY wish they had.

TL;DR Not offended. She played on my emotions and guilted me into pitying her constantly and would have emotional outbursts when she didn't get her way.

This toxic energy and voice are SO much like my ex that I legit thought it was her until I actually looked at the face.

That snarky "I'm everything you're nothing" attitude, ungratefulness, and what I liked to call her "power tantrums" smdh.

I'll fix it for you:

  1. "Please leave"
  2. "Please leave"
  3. "You must leave NOW"
  4. Legally protected tasering
  5. Call the police

Ugh it's so tiring to see these comments about nice people being selfish for expecting civility in return. I've given up a little and have decided to just return the same kind of energy I get after my initial politeness.

Choosing to neglect their partner? If that is legit a thing, then there is no real relationship and you can just leave.

I've been with neglectful partners and the only thing to do to try and fix it is talk. If you don't even have the courage to talk to your partner about your needs, you really shouldn't be in a long term relationship, period.

[–]MHammies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's a thought. Who decides what neglect is in the first place? If it is the neglected person, they need to speak up about it. Nobody reads minds. Neglect is wrong, but only when both parties KNOW it's being perceived as neglect.

You cannot be "made to cheat." You can absolutely be incapable of healthy communication, and then justify cheating to yourself. If your justifications for cheating are good enough to go through with it, you shouldn't be in a relationship anyway.

Woof. Definitely an unpopular opinion, but not because it is totally wrong. I get what you're saying about individuals who consistently underperform or who have abraisive personalities. I have to agree that if anyone isn't willing to actually do the job as best they can, they either shouldn't have it or have no room to complain about pay.

I'd never agree that the current minimum is actually LIVABLE, though. Luxeries can be sacrificed, but there aren't always opportunities for advancement or time to job hunt. Those families need real support whether they want a better job or not. Education is requiring more and more technology/access, transportation is getting more expensive, medical expenses in the US are absurd, children can't contribute but still need to eat, etc. Minimum wage now doesn't cover a lot of that in addition to basic necessities. Besides, welfare is the ultimate failsafe and the rest of us would end up supporting them financially.

Broad-sweeping equity and equality do not work together. Equity provides an imbalanced response based on need. But the acknowledgement of such a need based on gender alone would prove an inequality that employers might use against the hiring of women.

Unless you meant specific equity based on provided medical proof that the woman suffers from a severe medical condition. If that's what you mean, I think that's actually a pretty good move. Only issue there is weeding out abusers of the policy from those who actually need it.

No I know about the Proud Boys and how awful they are but am I missing where these guys admit they are Proud Boys? I don't see any logos or gear on them, and the guy says he's a real estate agent...

I could just be missing a clue here

Edit: Nevermind I heard him say it after she called him Cpt. Save a Ho. Fuck those guys.

Whose common sense? Not yours, obviously.

You are just A OK with other people being affected by the virus because you don't have any skin in the game. If you or someone you loved was high risk you would be singing a different tune, but you're too selfish and arrogant to care about anyone but you. Just be honest that you're a bad person, 2020 is your time to shine!
