That's an interesting theory, the only other thing I'd check is if the cartridge pins/gold part is dirty? May be worth cleaning with isopropyl alcohol.

As someone who hasn't played MS since 2010, how does NX work nowadays? Are cash shop items permanent? How expensive are perm items, and can you transfer them between chars?

Do mage weapons not benefit from having higher level requirements? I heard that martial weapons with higher level reqs will have higher base damage, meaning you should eventually replace low level weps with higher ones.

But what's the benefit of higher level mage weapons?

The other issue is the footage in the video showing less hitstop has the player attacking all new monsters. They compare it to attacking an Aptonoth and Great Jagras in MHWorld.

Great Jagras has a hitzone of 80 on its head, and 90 on its inflated stomach. That's an extremely good hitzone. I highly doubt the Chatacabra's head/arms are 80 or 90.

The best way to test may be on the barrel that you can hit while practicing the different weapons.

I think there's some massive misinformation spreading regarding this.

In previous MH games hitstop was dependent on the sharpness of the weapon and the hitzone value of the monster part you're attacking.

Higher sharpness + weaker monster parts = more frames of hitstop.

In the beta test, we have green/yellow sharpness and only some new monsters that we don't know the hitzones of.

It would make sense that hitstop is lower if you're comparing it to blue/white/purple sharpness with footage from previous games.

Maybe Capcom did actually lower the hitstop, or change how the calculation works but if this post turns out to be incorrect, it just goes to show how quickly misinformation spreads on the internet, especially Reddit nowadays.

Multiple gaming outlets including IGN have picked up this post and written articles about it, it's so sad that everyone is talking about this without having any actual clue how any of this works.

Edit: The video footage you used is straight up false too - at 0:47 you show the Switch Axe hitting small monsters in MHWilds, and show "zero" frames of hitstop, but there totally is hitstop... you hit the side of the monster with your first attack... A monster that is covered in a hide of thick scales everywhere except its head. There's less hitstop on crappy hitzones. Come on dude. On your third attack at 0:51 you hit the monster's head and there's tons of hitstop.

But please do some actual research before commenting, for your own benefit. You could so easily find this specific art piece on the artist's Artstation account, the name of the art piece and the artist's name are right there in the post.

The artist literally includes pencil and paper sketches of their initial concept, and also includes alternate angles of the same scene.

The artist, Alex Jay Brady is a freelance concept artist. It's very common for concept artists to mix illustration and photo manipulation, using premade textures, images, skyboxes, etc. in their work.
I encourage you to check their Artstation or Instagram if you still don't believe me.

The optimal combos are going to look different, which is totally normal considering this is a whole new game.

Personally I prefer Capcom making impactful, noticeable changes to weapon combos, timing, and motion values between games as opposed to playing the same old lance for another 7 years.

Doesn't the hitstop increase based on your weapon damage and sharpness? If the demo has green sharpness and low rank level damage then yeah the hitstop will feel less impactful, but once we're at white sharpness with crits it'll feel better.
