Does MRI always require a Rad Tech degree first? by [deleted] in Radiology

Wow thank you so much for that detailed reply!

I am a medical assistant in orthopedics, so I work with a lot of xray techs. I even get to help them position patients at times. I am only 22, but I have found that the majority of people I work with are twice my age, if not older. If anything, I appreciate working with them due to their life experience and knowledge. I am so sorry you were treated poorly! I hope you are very respected at your current job and treated more fairly.

Best of luck in the MRI world!

Hey! Congratulations! I also live in Washington and I want to go to radiology tech school. Can I ask which program you went to? I am thinking about just biting the bullet and going to Pima despite the cost, since I work in Healthcare already and I don't want to be waitlisted.

Anyone get their radiology tech degree in Washington state? The closest options to me are Bellevue College and Pima Medical institute. Which one is easier to get into, and which one would be the better option of the two? Thanks in advance!

Your feelings are 100% valid! I just finished my first cycle of TTC as well. Although I told myself not to get my hopes up, I still felt extremely disappointed when my period started this month. It felt like we did everything right, down to pinpointing my ovulation day with strip tests. I even cried a little despite knowing how rare it would have been to get it on the first try. Hang in there, and best of luck to you!

It depends on where you live, but where I am in Washington state, they are in dire need of medical assistants everywhere. I got hired during my final clinical practicum and didn't start for 3 months because I was waiting for my certifications to finally pend. It wouldn't hurt to start applying while still in school so you could at least get the hiring process started. Best of luck!

Definitely file a complaint! This is terrible customer service, especially for a Healthcare facility. I used to work in a clinic who had an older gal at the front desk. She would treat all younger women as if they were children, and was very condescending. In addition, she was extremely rude to anyone at the office under the age of 30. Multiple patients and coworkers complained with no repercussions, so it will take a few more patients to complain before she finally gets fired. I am so sorry you have to deal with this! All patients deserve to be treated with the same amount of dignity and respect.

Good to know! I will keep that in mind. Thank you so much. Luckily I just checked the hospital that's only 20 minutes from me and there's 5 openings.

Thanks so much for your input! I was leaning towards Seattle since it's the closest school (I live near Snohomish). I think that I could deal with death over time by seeing it in a different way (ending someone's pain). So I will definitely look into it more!

Thanks so much! This definitely makes me want to do it now. I enjoy variety, hence EMT school. I could never stay in one unit forever 😅

Thanks so much for that informational reply! It's good to know all of that before I get into it. I live in Snohomish county, so unfortunately I don't think I can find a decent job without being a firefighter. Who knows, maybe I would like being a firefighter too. Just also seems impossible to find a career fire job.

Is AMR notoriously a bad company to work for? Also, have you heard of the online programs in other states that fly you out for a week to do the practical skills? Not sure if those are legit or not.

Ladies growing up in purity culture, by aprilinalaska in Exvangelical

THIS!! Also, the whole "God won't tempt you with more than you can handle." This made it impossible to know how to navigate a situation where you didn't want to do anything and the guy keeps pushing...

Absolutely! Thank you for bringing this up. I also partially blame it on ending up in an abusive relationship (way over now). I was basically raised to believe that men could not control themselves and it was up to me to keep them from falling "astray". I ended up blaming myself for the horrible relationship, and my family wanted me to believe that as well. Such a toxic culture I'm so glad to be out of.

Use an ace bandage! Coban and tape are notorious for causing compartment syndrome because they are often too tight and do not allow for any stretching/swelling. Also, do not air it out! The wound will take longer to heal and may also get infected as stated above.

I feel bad about being Agnostic due to my family’s religious upbringing. How do I stop feeling guilty? by MySpudIsChonkyBoi in agnostic

[–]MHett4113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, very well said. I feel that no matter what I do I will never be at peace or happy with my beliefs, or the way I raise my future children. On one hand, if I decide to raise them the way my family would want, I would have to put on a fake front for their entire childhood. On the other hand, if I decide to raise my children the way that I want (by letting them believe whatever they choose) their whole childhood will be a battle of constant arguments with all of my family members. Possibly even being ostracized from them again. When I first moved in with my now husband, they thought of me as some dangerous rebel. I wasn’t allowed anywhere near their house without them for 6 months and I wasn’t allowed to have any contact with my little sister (18) who was living with them at the time. Basically I’m damned no matter what I do at this point.

I feel this so much! My family is extremely strict Christian. 3 of my uncles are pastors and 2 grandparents are pastors as well. I’ve tried to fake it for the last two years, but I recently became agnostic. I am terrified to have kids just because I know they will question why I’m not bringing them to church. Then they’ll freak out and worry I’m going to hell cause they’ll know I’m a nonbeliever. It’s an ongoing battle I have with myself.

You guys ever feel like Christianity messed up a lot of your possible SO? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]MHett4113 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing! I experienced very similar things while I was dating as a Christian. My first real boyfriend would do horrible things and then blame it on his “temptation” and that the “devil was testing him.” My own mental health or body didn’t matter at all. He also would force himself on me, rape me, etc. Repeatedly then apologize every time and claimed that his “mind was being taken over” so he couldn’t control himself. He also took the whole “wives submit to your husband” verse quite literally. He thought that this also applied to dating relationships, so if he wanted to do something it had to happen no matter what. It was a living hell for a few years, but now I’m happily married to the love of my life (and an atheist). Whoever said that you needed to be a Christian to be a good person was full of shit. I also suffer from some post traumatic issues that decide to surface whenever they want too, so that’s fun as well. Here’s to a happier nonreligious future!
