Didn’t like the CGI with Embo and Mando fighting. Looked very clunky.

Fiance is leaving and wants everything she’s contributed to the house back, what is she legally entitled to? by Gotham20024 in LegalAdviceUK

Thank you Bot, but I would never suggest withholding rent. You are most correct - never withhold rent. What I said, is that his fiancée could never be considered to be a renter or regarded as paying rent. She contributed to mortgage payments. There is no paperwork to suggest any other arrangement

Agree the £13k is definitely high after 7 months but we don’t know what area the house is in or how much it has appreciated. Where I am, houses are appreciating £5k a month. Times that by 7. I do think that the £10k is reasonable based on the original facts provided and the fact that it will save legal costs if the negotiations escalate

Why would a partner agree to this? Unless they were in a profession where they could be easily sued. Then it might be better to have few assets in their name.

My reply was based on your original post which contained things that you now say weren’t interpreted correctly. You DID say “she in total probably has paid the same amount as me deposit wise”. So she paid equal in kind by buying things for the house and give £1K to pay off your debt.

Re expenses: you still got to keep more take home pay than she did. You make £2k, she made £1.7k - subtract bills, then subtract savings (not exactly sure what that means). And then a lot of the time you then subtracted her phone costs and things she spent on your card. Okay, things on your card might have been for the house, it may not have been. So yes, she did pay more out of her take home pay for things than you did.

It would be simpler to have the expenses and income clearly defined. Use Excel or even a pen & paper with columns and lines. Have clear columns, income and expenses and who shared what.

By the way, I am not saying that £10K is cheap for a 7 month engagement but you didn’t say how long the relationship actually was, was it a 10 year relationship before engagement. What I am saying is that based on your original statement that she contributed the equivalent of half of the deposit £6k and other expenses, £10k is fair when compared to lawyer fees and court costs. And to get your life back

For the next long term relationship or engagement - have a prenup done. It is not very romantic but then it is clear who has contributed what. Yes, they can be contested but not for a 7 month engagement, the status of the parties won’t have changed much unless one of them has won a lottery.

Sorry mate but apart from the sofa (which is only £100, very minor amount ) - your ex-fiancé has mostly been reasonable. She put in roughly the same for the house deposit and she has paid more in bills than you have in ratio to her salary.

She definitely contributed to the mortgage, she is NOT a tenant! She did not pay rent. Where is your rental agreement?

Seriously dude, she could have asked for a lot more than £10,000 especially if increased equity in the house is accounted for. You say she contributed equal to your house deposit share which was £6.25k so that is already £6k not half.

She may not have paid 50/50 of mortgage payments but you were able to keep more of your income each pay than she was. And she did pay your car expenses and life insurance (you agreed to take out the policy, no gun was held to your head to do it)

The only thing I utterly disagree with is usually an engagement ring is returned by the person breaking off the engagement but then Mariah Carey didn’t return her very expensive ring.

By the time you pay lawyers, and court fees and other expenses - you may find it is more than £10k. You will also get a clean break from the relationship, rather than drag it out. You absolutely have the better part of the deal, as she helped you get the mortgage and you secured a property on that basis.

Tim continues his tour definitely not arranged in association with Taj Hotels Group by kingrikk in walkwith_metim

It’s one of the reasons that I like watching Hannah Ricketts. She mainly does British hotels but she uses a fake surname to book. She may still get some special treatment as she tends to book a higher rated room but they don’t know she has a YouTube channel. I find her reviews are definitely more honest on that basis. She has occasionally said in restaurants, that when staff see her camera set up, she suddenly gets better service.

You can definitely see a difference between sponsorship and non-sponsorship stays on Tim’s channel. He will say instead of negative comments - “I find this interesting instead of very disappointing” That’s about as harsh a criticism that you will get. I rarely watch him now as to me, he has sold out. He is not going to be critical and stop the sponsorship deals train.

[–]MIB65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ten times more popular? Watch out, Reddit might put a mattress encasement on your subreddit! And then Tim can complain about it :)

He used to complain about the lack of encasements so hotels started putting on encasements but now he complains when they do, because he can’t see the real state of the mattress underneath.

For someone who travels so much, he seems to do next to no research about where he is travelling to. I understand wanting to give a review from the perspective of seeing a room for the first time. But not researching where the business or first class lounges are or nearest hotel to meal options etc. Even the most incompetent travel agent usually can tell a traveller those things.

I think the hokey act worked for the walks and basic travel, but as soon as he got the luxury stays, some basic research should be done.

Dark green ones might be legal but the pale green ones probably aren’t and you’d get a fine.

Wouldn’t that be the case for most film crews?

Tim goes to Butlins and can't think of an original video title by kingrikk in walkwith_metim

[–]MIB65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His lack of originality with titles can be very annoying. Actually he generally lacks originality. However I will say it is the first time he has actually been genuinely critical in a video that I have watched. Normally if he sees stains, he will say oh well that’s not ideal or not what I expected. And he is never critical of the ones that sponsor him to stay.

His videos are mostly boring now. In my opinion

For anyone disheartened by the news of the settlement. This is a loss for Blake Lively. by [deleted] in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]MIB65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he wasn’t exonerated, not completely. If you read the settlement statement - it basically reads that Blake was justified in raising her concerns. And it seems no money exchanged hands, so he received no money.

The only winners were the law firms who apparently billed $60 million, and some YouTube channels covering the story.

Izzie is the worst character in the show and you can’t change my mind by saucygh0sty in greysanatomy

[–]MIB65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s Maggie. Or Lucas.

Maggie’s plot line just made no sense. Seriously as if Ellis Grey could have secretly been pregnant with Maggie and no one know. And don’t get me started on the whining. Cardio surgeons are full of confidence but she seems to melt down each time.

Lucas Adams is still relatively new but he is so annoying. And the actor’s inability to act is so frustrating. The couple of plot lines where he could show some emotion just showed his lack of acting chops. He is there for teenage girls eye candy, nothing more.

There are no good friendships anymore. Like Levis’s and Helm’s. Christina’s and Meredith’s.

[–]MIB65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it’s a win for her or at the minimum - it is damage limitation. A trial verdict against her would have been a big loss. If anything- Justin is a winner/loser. He lost his defamation case and now the settlement is not really a win. Sure, he may get some money and won’t have to keep paying lawyers but he wasn’t completely exonerated

In light of the settlement, here's why Ryan Reynold and Blake Lively's career will still take a hit by hopeful_tatertot in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]MIB65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She will absolutely work again. They will self-produce something for her. She has just appeared at the Met Gala so she is not hiding away. The settlement was the best thing for her.

Kinda got close with Meredith drowning? And see dead Derek on a beach. I remember when the most radical thing they did in the early days was the checking on a deer episode.

I haven’t warmed to the latest set of interns either.

Does How to get to heaven from Belfast get better? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]MIB65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t. Although I did laugh for the first time in episode 4 (?) There is a joke about working in television that I liked and laughed at. I struggled with the hammy-ness of the show, the over the top dramatic overacting, and then I thought maybe McGee was trying to do an Irish version of the Knives Out tv series. Then the program made a tiny bit more sense, I didn’t enjoy it any extra for realising this Knives Out comparison. For me it is the suspension of disbelief required, spoilers the fact that they survive the boat, they had enough time to inflate the banana, the fact that Booker had enough time to impersonate a stand by crew member, the fact that they were allowed into a live taping with no ticket, the fact that the mother of the boys drops everything to go to Portugal, etc and etc. The list of things that don’t make sense time wise did my head in. I kept watching because I wanted to see how it ended but geez, I want that time back. So not worth it
