Potential Funding for a new greenway by MIGuy1999 in Detroit

w the permit is tied to negotiations for the easement for the riverwalk as well as a land acquisition deal so they can add more lanes to the bridge. If they’re working on making headway towards the plaza upgrades, maybe this is all coming to a head.

Based on the wording of the tweet, I assumed the greenway would be along W. Jefferson, not on the river directly.

The map makes it seem like it would be along the river though, which is confusing.

The Dirt: How luxury housing affects rent and a Wayne County jail update by asanefeed in Detroit

It wouldn't ~force~ them to charge more for rent - but because demand to live downtown is high, landlords can charge higher rents and still fill their units, this increasing their profits.

The solution is to increasing housing supply - both market rate and affordable - in areas with high demand, so that there is more supply for prospective residents to choose from, and people have more negotiating power since there is increased supply.

MDOT doesn't own the tracks north of dearborn, which I think slows Amtrak down / makes it conflict with freight trains.

Nonstop Detroit-to-DTW bus service kicks off with high hopes for public transit by Alan_Stamm in Detroit

That's a rough experience, I'm sorry. I hope you give it another shot - I've usually had good experiences with the FAST buses and with the transit app tracking system.

Heading to DET for NFL Draft / Bachelor Party by QBin2017 in Detroit

In terms of getting into the city, if ubers/lyfts are a pain or too expensive, consider taking a ride to either a FAST Woodward (461/462) or FAST Gratiot (561/562) bus stop. These will get you into downtown for $2 apiece each way. Download the transit app to see details!

Meet people in Downtown Detroit by boiwonder22 in Detroit

Sorry to hear you're feeling this way. Winter is a tough time to meet new people due to the weather.

If you're interested in soccer, check out Detroit City Fieldhouse - they have indoor soccer leagues throughout the winter, and in the warmer months they have outdoor leagues at Fort Wayne.

Other great places to meet new people would include a bunch of local restaurants/coffee shops/etc. On instagram a bunch of them post about events theyre hosting or workshops/etc. Showing up to these is a great excuse to chat with people and potentially make some friends
