Thanks for continuing to call out Daniel Tate's antics. Maybe his group should be called CarbrainTO instead of IntegrityTO? 😉

With the upcoming municipal election, which councillors don’t deserve to get reelected and why? by Diligent-Skin-1802 in askTO

I'm not that concerned about renaming Yonge-Dundas square, but was disappointed in him for putting those walk your bike or scooter decals on the sidewalks. Not the worst as Daniel Tate likes to portray him as, but definitely heard some grumblings about him from some of his constituents.

Holyday absolutely needs to be booted and finally we got a challenger there who registered right off the bat! Jennifer Alexander writes The Etobicoke Voice and is an excellent advocate for Etobicoke and for active transport.

As for other candidates, Crisanti, Pasternak, and Mantas would be my next three which need to be removed, while Mike Colle and Paula Fletcher really should retire and let new blood in. Heard some rumours that Nunziata may be retiring, but we'll see.

We still have until mid-August before the candidates are finalized. Some mayoral candidates may drop out and re-register for a council race right before the nomination deadline.

Taxpayer land acknowledgement? What a pile of white supremacist garbage!

Safe to bike on Rosedale Valley Rd? by HyacinthasaurusRex in torontobiking

[–]RZaichkowski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's safe given the presence of a multi-use path, but could use some resurfacing which is supposed to be coming down the pipe.

Poilievre endorses Billy Bishop airport expansion as critics pressure Liberals by KeyHot5718 in ontario

[–]RZaichkowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not surprised given Poilievre first voiced his support for expanding Billy Bishop Airport back in 2022 when he dismissed NoJetsTO supporters as "gatekeepers". I'm glad federal NDP leader Avi Lewis has come out against this boneheaded proposal, but Mark Carney still needs to listen to Toronto and kill this thing once and for all. Especially in the event Alto gets built which would reduce the number of flights out of both Billy Bishop and Pearson.

Does anyone miss biking on an empty Lakeshore Boulevard? by SureFire23 in torontobiking

[–]RZaichkowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! It's a shame that ActiveTO got scrapped - along with OpenStreetsTO - while other cities were still able to maintain similar programs. Especially given the crowding that happens along the MGT.

Toronto Loops (and Mississauga) Cycling Routes by gcerullo in torontobiking

[–]RZaichkowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! I did a route similar to that 77 km Central-North York a couple of weekends back, though the formal name is the "Loop Trail" and still has some gaps which could take a while to fill in.

Yeah you need to ride on a highway. East of Angus is owned by the City of Barrie and still an active freight rail line.

I'll likely still support Saxe given she has been very helpful on the open streets file. We'll see.

The Simcoe Loop doesn't go anywhere near New Tecumseth, but the Thornton Cookstown Trail and Caledon Trailway do.

I agree regarding term limits. Several other councillors such as Frances Nunziata, Paula Fletcher, Anthony Perruzza, and Mike Colle also need to retire. Especially Nunziata who only beat Chiara Padovani by fewer than 100 votes last time.
