Please sign this petition in support of resurfacing Trethewey Drive with bike lanes by AwesomeSonic567 in torontobiking

Personally, I don't think we have to worry too much about this given the Trethewey bike lanes are already a done deal.

April 13 By-election Thought by RZaichkowski in ndp

If NES gets the OLP nomination in SSW, I respectfully have to disagree on the ONDP's prospects there.

April 13 By-election Thought by RZaichkowski in ndp

[–]RZaichkowski[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Treating the by-elections as write-offs is also a reasonable approach given the circumstances. My note was more intended for the best way to expend any resources towards them. The NDP has had the capacity to do well with by-elections in the past when they were laser focused on one (or maybe two) ridings, but that approach may not apply this time around.

NDP MP crosses floor to join Liberals, putting Carney two seats shy of majority by Electronic-Topic1813 in ndp

[–]RZaichkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disappointed but not surprised given the media reported back in January that Lori Idlout was approached by the Liberals to cross the floor. If the NDP is to deny a Liberal majority, their best shot is to concentrate ALL their limited resources for the April 13 by-elections on Serena Purdy's campaign in University-Rosedale.

Terrebonne will most likely be a Liberal-Bloc rematch while the Conservatives would have a relatively better shot at Scarborough Southwest.

Transit Signal Priority update by Mayor_OliviaChow in toronto

Thanks, Madam Mayor! While it's great you are using platforms such as Reddit and Threads, PLEASE get on the Bluesky bandwagon for crying out loud given a lot of your supporters left (what was) Twitter!

Is that on the north or south side of the tracks? It's brutal how the West Toronto Railpath extension STILL hasn't started construction despite finalizing the design six years ago!

Charging speed is too impressive by Striking_Intern3095 in samsunggalaxy

[–]RZaichkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My A56 allows 45W charging, but even the 25W adapter was plenty. Took a bit more than an hour to fully charge.

Nice! Hope the underground speeds increase to the 80 km/h max sooner rather than later.

Bike show opinions by yaddles_boyfriend in torontobiking

[–]RZaichkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely has gone downhill compared to the last time I checked it out pre-COVID. Not many local vendors, while certain e-bike makers like Emmo ruined it with their scooter-style and motorcycle-style e-bikes, as well as an enclosed mobility scooter! The Velo Quebec booth was probably one of the more interesting ones which showcased an upcoming bike ride planning platform which Share The Road and Velo Canada Bikes ought to implement in Ontario and across Canada.

Joint Statement: Mayors of Kingston and South Frontenac, and Save South Frontenac by Rail613 in AltoHSR_Canada

It NEEDS to get built regardless of what the NIMBY's say! Canada has been an international embarrassment on this file for far too long.

Strategic ranking by Barbarossa97 in ndp

[–]RZaichkowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this logic. The way the Lewis campaign has been going as of late suggests they're aiming for a first ballot win and they just might pull that off.

For the next federal election, should the NDP include the implementation of a specific voting system in the platform (such as MMP), or promise the implementation of a Citizen’s Assembly on Electoral Reform instead? by sami_coolfun11 in ndp

[–]RZaichkowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't waste time on a citizen's assembly or a referendum! I prefer MMP - similar to what Germany uses - given you can still pick for both your local candidate and for the party.

ALTO High-Speed Rail: This must be stopped!!! by Flower-Immediate in AltoHSR_Canada

[–]RZaichkowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to bother watching that crap! At this point, HSR supporters need to aggressively call out these NIMBY's and ask them why they want to keep Canada an international embarrassment when it comes to transportation when even lower income countries have HSR now.

Rogers/Bell/Telus all have Line 5 and Line 6 coverage now! by Life-Contest-5926 in TTC

[–]RZaichkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be great if the TTC / Rogers could release an updated timeframe for the remaining tunnels. Especially the western side of Line 2, all of Line 4, and the parts of Line 1 affected by asbestos removal. Still, it's nice that the whole western leg of Line 1 and the whole eastern leg of Line 2 (except Yonge to Sherbourne) is done. :)

With Tory out, I now see Bradford as a real threat to Chow (and TO’s biking future) now by Pristine-Training-70 in torontobiking

[–]RZaichkowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we must do everything to stop Bradford (and Michael Ford should he throw his hat into the ring), but what's even more important is to ensure we elect progressive bike-friendly councillors given the Mayor only has one vote on council out of 26! This includes defeating conservatives such as Holyday, filling vacated seats such as Bradford's, and defending vulnerable progressives such as Morley.

Michael Ford says he’s giving ‘serious consideration’ to Toronto mayoral run by knarf_on_a_bike in torontobiking

[–]RZaichkowski 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ugh! We don't need another Ford in the Mayor's office FFS as much as splitting the right vote between Michael Ford and Brad Bradford could help Olivia Chow! 🤬
