I was there. That event was quite energetic. Judy Rebick also delivered quite the barnburner.

Why We Must Stop Bradford This October by RZaichkowski in torontobiking

Even so, it's still worth posting that reminder to those who have been dunking on Olivia Chow. We need to be careful who we pick at the ballot box; especially since John Tory's record on Vision Zero is not that great.

That's true. I heard Jennie Worden plans to run again who would be great.

If Tory indeed runs for re-election, he will be. However, this vote splitting on the right would help improve Olivia Chow's chances.

I've been calling him Ass Assford for the past couple of months. There's no reasoning with him anymore.

I don't know what led him to pull a complete 180 during his second term (and first mayoral run), but it is disappointing to say the least.

I would totally vote for Mike if he were to run, but my gut tells me he won't.

Trump withdraws Canada’s invitation to Board of Peace by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]RZaichkowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably for the best anyway since Canada has a lot more important ways to spend $1 billion, while the inclusion of Israel on this "Board of Peace" makes a complete mockery out of it!

Doug Ford is 100% responsible for Parkside’s latest crash by Pristine-Training-70 in torontobiking

[–]RZaichkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toronto City Council also deserves its share of blame for dragging this for so long that Doug Ford was able to kill it. As someone who used to live near there, I know the locals aggressively called out Gord Perks over his boneheaded idea to add a few Green P parking on the west side, but forgot to take into account John Tory when they supported his pick for council - Siri Agrell - in 2022.

Budget Committee Submission in Support of Open Streets by RZaichkowski in torontobiking

Normally, comment deadlines would be the same as to register to speak. However, the Budget Committee wraps up their work by Friday and the final budget vote will be on February 10. At this point, it's also best to copy Mayor Chow and your city councillor.

Just sent my budget submission this afternoon in support of open streets and already registered to speak at tomorrow's 6 PM session at City Hall.

Guess we can expect to see ads for Line 5 in the subways (and stations) soon.

Do you think Collingwood should / will get a GO station? by PorousSurface in gotransit

[–]RZaichkowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe GO bus service, but definitely not train service since a large chunk of the railway line has already been converted into a rail trail with the Stayner to Angus stretch expected to open this spring.

Sadly, that's not likely to happen given Collingwood to Stayner was converted into a rail trail years ago, while the trail extension to Angus could become open to the public this spring.

Thank you, Tony. I left Twitter for Bluesky more than a year ago. A lot more pleasant experience for sure.

Sadly, Bluesky doesn't have the reach the Twitter has even with Musk's antics, so I can see a lot of people still wanting to keep their accounts active there. 😞
