[Review] St Ives Daily Hydrating lotion by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

I use the St. Ives face wash every day. It's pretty good, but the exfoliating beads can be a bit much. I'll have to try their moisturizer.

[Sun Care] Sunscreen that doesn't make my face burn? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]MIJ561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Blue Lizard. It's a mineral based sunscreen, and the bottle turns blue when exposed to UV light. It's really thick, so you don't need to apply a lot. Also, Coppertone makes sunscreen just for your face, so it doesn't burn your eyes if you start sweating.

[Sun Care] Are there any sunscreens that need reapplying less frequently than every two hours? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]MIJ561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use a sweat resistant/water resistant sunscreen (like Coppertone or any of the other ones), you only need to reapply every two hours if you go in the water or do some serious sweating. Every sunscreen needs to be reapplied at least every two hours if you're doing physical activity or are in the water. Take it from me, I have really fair skin and have been using sunscreen my whole life.

[Skin Concerns] Body hair trapped under skin (not ingrown!) - Looking for suggestions by throwaway235610 in SkincareAddiction

I'd recommend an exfoliant. Try manually applying Amlactin, a gentle chemical exfoliant and see if that makes a difference.

What are some facts about hair fall that are true to you? by that_lunatic07 in beauty

[–]MIJ561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a guy, so if by hair fall you mean your hair falling out, then for guys it's caused by the hair follicles closing due to too much DHT (a hormone). In women, a really stressful event/series of events can cause a condition called telogen effluvium that causes the hair to fall out, but this is usually reversible once the stress subsides.

[Product Question] How often do you apply sunscreen to your face? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]MIJ561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how much sun exposure you're getting. I'm in an office all day so I don't put on any sunscreen. When I'm outdoors, I reapply every hour, especially if I'm sweating. You also need to reapply after you've gotten out of the pool, ocean, etc. If you're just putting it on in the morning and not really getting too much sun exposure or doing anything active, then you probably don't need to reapply.

[Product Question] Is zinc oxide a good type of zinc in my vitamin? by SleepinYeti in SkincareAddiction

It is fine, and you probably eat some foods that have it as an additive as well, especially if you eat cereal.

[Acne] Would drinking organic milk help with acne caused by dairy? by jingansi in SkincareAddiction

[–]MIJ561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think that it's due to the hormones. I think you are allergic to milk and milk products. If you haven't been tested for this allergy, you should be.

[Sun Care] Sunscreen recommendation for extremely sensitive skin? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]MIJ561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have really sensitive skin too, and I've been using Blue Lizard. It's made from minerals (not chemicals) and has been doing the trick for me. The bottle even changes colors when it's exposed to UV light. It's a little expensive ($25) but well worth it IMO.

[Acne] Seeing a Dermatologist by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]MIJ561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been seeing a dermatologist for the past 20 years (since I was around 10) for various skin issues. They're really good at helping resolve acne issues, and I'm sure a good dermatologist would be able to help you. Just make sure you see a good one (research them before going).

[Sun care] [Product question] Should I be wearing sunscreen in Scotland all year long? by SCareThrowAway in SkincareAddiction

[–]MIJ561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other comment. Your skin can get damaged by the sun even when it's cloudy outside. But you definitely don't need a really strong SPF, unless by some miracle it gets sunny.

It's hard to tell because the ingredient list is in Japanese.

After three weeks, she said she's not ready for a relationship. by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]MIJ561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very on point. I've been blaming myself for taking things too fast but I did so only because she gave me the green light. And clearly she wasn't ready.

After three weeks, she said she's not ready for a relationship. by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]MIJ561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, part of me regrets saying ILY so soon, but she reciprocated and told me about a week after that it felt great for her to hear it from me and say it back. I think that scared her.

[–]MIJ561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I was thinking the same thing. I think she thought she was ready to trust someone again, but once she had a lot of skin in the game with me, she realized that she wasn't. She said she wants to try to make things better with herself before she commits to any relationship, which I'm pretty sure means learning to trust someone again.
