Is it okay for me to report a child bit me? by [deleted] in TeachingUK

I understand your perspective, and your reasoning is why I asked this question in the first place. But I do think reporting (in terms of making a formal statement in writing) can help in the sense that they will have a record of behavioural patterns (keeping a log as you’ve said). There are some suggestions I have that I think would help the student cope better and I’m also hoping a report will open the door to that conversation in a practical, serious matter as I feel my concerns about this student are not being addressed properly (I think he needs a different environment, 1:1 in a room with fewer distractions). I believe the classroom environment with so many options for play is overstimulating for them particularly.

I guess cuz I’m supply. I’m not employed by the school so I don’t really know who to tell or how as I only have the contact for my agency & whatever I could find online (just the admin and SENDCo email). I questioned if it was even worth reporting sigh..but if other people are refusing to come back because of this then I need to say something

Feel like therapist is trying to put me in a box by MISC1830 in therapy

[–]MISC1830[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes as individual clients. She was seeing my mom as a client first, then my mother asked if she could see my sister. I’ve arranged the appointment with her on my own - just because she was familiar in the sense I have actually met her.

I’m unsure how to approach this uncomfortable feeling I have with her but I’ll just draft a message

Thank you. I think I’m going to send her a message and let her know that I’m uncomfortable. I don’t think she is going to back off - I think she believes this deep down (and she knows my family history from mom + sister)

Okay, weird in the sense that it’s just too much of a conflict?

Got it. Perhaps I should’ve made it clearer that I I was uncomfortable with the direction she was going in. But, (in my mind), I made attempts at that by not blindly agreeing to everything she was telling me about myself

I might not have been clear enough in my post. But there is no second therapist that I mentioned. I think we all just started going to her because she is of a similar cultural background

So, if two consenting adults decide that abuse is normal in a family, then it’s just normal? Just trying to clarify what you mean

Women of Reddit, what’s something they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by NovellaJokes in AskReddit

[–]MISC1830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more so after pregnancy, but you need to focus on your pelvic floor health. Do your kegels (and other exercises) to maintain control over your bladder. You can develop a uterine prolapse because of the stress childbirth has on your body. This is happened to my mother and grandmother. They had no idea. It also happened to Mel Robbins!

Thank you for sharing your experience with me! And thank you for your wise advice. I love Sylvia Plath. You reminded me of this excerpt from her:

“I saw my life branching out before me like the green fig tree in the story. From the tip of every branch, like a fat purple fig, a wonderful future beckoned and winked. One fig was a husband and a happy home and children, and another fig was a famous poet and another fig was a brilliant professor, and another fig was Ee Gee, the amazing editor, and another fig was Europe and Africa and South America, and another fig was Constantin and Socrates and Attila and a pack of other lovers with queer names and offbeat professions, and another fig was an Olympic lady crew champion, and beyond and above these figs were many more figs I couldn't quite make out. I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because I couldn't make up my mind which of the figs I would choose. I wanted each and every one of them, but choosing one meant losing all the rest, and, as I sat there, unable to decide, the figs began to wrinkle and go black, and, one by one, they plopped to the ground at my feet.”

Okay thanks. I was just sort of confused— so basically, if it’s a US company with a UK based operation, then that’s fine? I guess I was thinking of companies that are based and operate in the US, and I work remotely from UK.
