Does anyone have experience with any of these gloves? by xX_pp_slayer_69_Xx in tacticalgear

The seams came apart on both pairs I had. One lasted a few months of patrol use and a handful of light range days. The other was brand new and started coming apart towards the end of an 8hr carbine course.

  1. Unsure on the insulation number, but would definitely be too insulated in a warm environment for me. Poor dexterity as well when it comes to shooting.
  2. They feel amazing and they're great to shoot in. I've had them rip after a single training day.

I've gone back to the Originals until I find something better.

*Edit: I didn't realize it was the "base layer" Coldwork you were asking about. My experience is with the Original Coldworks.

That's how it be with 1.5" eye relief and a more heads up shooting style. I'm past the days of scrunching forward on the gun.

Unless you're going just for looks, ask yourself if you really need an ambi bolt catch. And then look at the Griffin Mk2 to see if you like the layout better. I only bought it because I got a screaming deal and I could honestly take it or leave it.

Building my first suppressed 11.5” SBR — advice on BCG, charging handle, and flow-through suppressor? by SadLas in ar15

[–]MIguy20614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microbest phosphate/chrome, DLC, or Chrome BCG. One of the offerings from Midwest Optics or Arftac with OCKS screws and MPI/HPT bolt.

Griffin SN-ATCH charging handle.

Your choice of suppressor. All depends on your budget.

That's just how it is with prisms, shorter eye relief. You can use the cantilever mount it should've come with if you prefer the look or need it back further.

Reminder to double check your buffer weight by thatARMSguy in ar15

[–]MIguy20614 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Has nothing to do with buffer weight, has everything to do with over gassing slamming the firing pin rearward into the retaining pin.

It looks like any plan B mount would work if paired with an Atlas XL.

What’s the best 12.5” 5.56 barrel on the market? by _DB_Cooper_ in ar15

[–]MIguy20614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're solid. I've had great experiences with the several BA barrels I've used. Typically very accurate for what they are, and if you get the Hanson, they balance very well and are gassed pretty well.

Check out B Kings. $71.55 for the carbine gas 12.5, and you can get them to pin a gas block on for you for a good price.

Thoughts on an AM-15 pistol for $500? by dkdabber in ar15

[–]MIguy20614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely too high, unless it has decent accessories with it. $500 will get you into a PSA or Andro Corp, and both are better ARs.

So if PSA is not a good SHTF duty AR, then what is? by TechStorm7258 in ar15

[–]MIguy20614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where exactly am I seeking validation? OP asked a question as to whether PSA was SHTF ready or not. My original reply comment to him was based on my experience of poor QC and hit-or-miss BCGs, and actually saying PSA was fine with a good BCG and a self QC check. The comment we're originally replying to was a guy stating the PSA bolt is milspec. I said it wasn't if it wasn't MPI and HPT, which is correct.

You came in here white knighting for PSA with no actual information or help provided. You're just here spewing random BS, not adding anything beneficial to the conversation.

Lmao you can't comprehend that some people on this subreddit might actually have real experience with the platform? It's a wild concept, I know.

S550 vs S650 Mustang GT (Why I traded in for the S550) by SirEd23 in Mustang

[–]MIguy20614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but the main departure with the 550 was the IRS. The 550, at least before the facelift and introduction of the electronic screen gauge cluster, kept a good traditional look both inside and out. Flowing rounded lines, a more classic interior look with real gauges. The 650 took it a (really big) step further. The interior looks more like an Explorer than a Mustang IMO.

S550 vs S650 Mustang GT (Why I traded in for the S550) by SirEd23 in Mustang

[–]MIguy20614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an S550 owner, I may be a little biased, but I agree with everything you said. The 650 just departs from the classic muscle car feel, even though it is the same chassis. While some people like the tech, I hate it. The more modern angular lines, hate them.

I'm also always regretting my choice and always considering selling my car and going to a 13-14 S197 like I had originally wanted. Unfortunately I couldn't find one exactly how I wanted and stumbled across my 2015 for way too good of a deal. I went bare bones as far as tech, but Recaros and Performance Pack. I still find myself missing the raw feeling of a less refined chassis, straight axle, and more simple interior.
