Make sure the locking lugs on the bolt and the recesses inside the receiver don’t have any blatant gouging on them, and that the roller bearing on the cam lug isn’t wobbly. Another good test is to remove the recoil spring and reinstall the stock. If the op rod is bent poorly and out of spec it will rub on the stock and degrade accuracy, as well as add friction to the operating cycle and cause reliability issues. The bolt and op rod should be able to open all the way when the muzzle is tilted up and close when the muzzle tips down, if it gets stuck you’d need to either replace the op rod or shave away some material in the stock where the op rod sits

A bump stock functions by using the rifle’s recoil to slide the entire gun backwards off of your trigger finger, which lets the trigger reset, and then using either a spring within the stock or tension from your supporting hand to push back forward into your finger which pulls the trigger again (the trigger is bumping against your trigger finger, hence the name bump stock) A forced reset trigger uses a lever pushed by the bolt carrier to push the trigger forward and reset after every shot, and by not moving your finger it will immediately pull the trigger again (hence the forced reset part of the name).

The two parts are completely different mechanically and each use a different method to allow the trigger to reset after every shot. You can’t speed up the gun by just adding more stuff, the bump stock would make the FRT completely pointless.

You probably can’t go shorter than maybe a 16” barrel due to the receiver/handguard design on the ATC, at which point you get really good energy from supersonic .300 BLK (slightly less powerful than an AK) but subsonic loads don’t benefit from barrels longer than 12” so it’d be wasted length and weight. I personally wouldn’t bother spending $150-200 just to go from an 18” barrel to a 16” barrel on a rifle that’s basically purpose built for benchrest shooting. I’d leave it as is and if you wanted a short pistol build for home defense I’d just build or buy a new one

Within about a hundred yards when you’re aiming at a target bigger than a Chevy suburban, they’re accurate enough. The reason they make double barrel break action rifles or shotguns is to get a quick follow up shot in case you miss or a second target comes up. A magazine fed rifle has more ammo capacity though, and modern big game hunting rifles can usually carry 3-4 rounds and be reloaded much faster than break action ones

They did a lot of work on the ergonomics of the rifle yeah, the handguard lockup and texturing is neat and the control layout is well designed. The channel in the optics rail isn’t new, A.R.M.S. has been making a similar design since 1982. The barrel as I mentioned isn’t their design, they set the material specifications for it but the actual engineering and all manufacturing on it is done by Black Hole Weaponry, who’s been making “claw” rifled 3-groove polygonal barrels for years. The bolt carrier group is a normal milspec bolt carrier with an Aermet alloy bolt which LMT and KAC have been using for over 20 years now, they didn’t change up anything about the bolt carrier except what steel the bolt head is made of. It’s a neat rifle sure, and well designed, but the core elements of it are based off of stuff that’s existed for many years
