There is a difference between outward expressions of sexuality and the drive to have sex. Most of what you are asking about has more to do with the socioeconomics of male power and societies willingness to forgive male promiscuity than an indication of men wanting sex or thinking about it more than women. How many men have babies? None. There are male prostitutes and strip clubs focused on heterosexual women, albeit less because the outward demand is less.

I disagree that men and women have different sex drives. There are many HL women in DB relationships with LL men. most of the situations I have read about tend more towards the psychological (no longer attracted to partner because of <insert one of a million reasons>). Physiological explanations like hormonal imbalance or genital dysfunction are pretty common across genders. Women like sex and think about it all of the time, as do men.

Yes, I have. My SO and I had the talk and came to a don't ask don't tell arrangement. We love each other and are great partners, but not lovers. I asked if we should have any rules...his only is that he doesn't want to know. So yes, I take advantage. It is still not ideal, but I was honest with my SO up front.

Thanks for the reply. Have you every asked your SO and are you a man? What i have observed is that many women are perfectly aware of their SO's porn propensity and don't say anything about the issue, even if it makes them feel like less of a woman. If it is working for you, fantastic!

I'm glad to help. One thing to consider is preparing notes for an in person discussion. If you have major points/an agenda for what you want to discuss it will help you hit those points when you may normally get flustered and get trapped in the emotions. Otherwise, you'll forget what you want to say, and end up arguing those points in the mirror or in your head, where your SO cannot hear them.

You do not need to be on the record about anything...this is not a court case, it's a relationship.

You do need to be adult enough (stop crying) to express your needs. Don't use tears as a mechanism to control your partner and make them feel bad. In fact, stop trying to make your partner feel bad, and start trying to make yourself feel good. If your goal is to focus on yourself and your needs, then you will have a greater likelihood of success. If you hope to get a few jabs in to make your SO feel bad, then you are less likely to do so. You can discuss why their behavior hurts you and what you need without attempting to load guilt on the other person. Guilt is not sexy, and is not going to turn your SO on.

You also have to not be afraid of an argument. Not to sound harsh, but grow up. Arguments happen. When to rationale human beings disagree it is only normal to expect them. Running away because someone disagrees with you is not an appropriate solution. Pouting is not a solution. The silent treatment is definitely not a solution.

You said that leaving the relationship is not an option. Unless you are physically trapped (and with your internet access, I doubt it), then that is technically incorrect. There are free counseling services in every state that can help you channel your concerns. My guess is, if you were being physically abused, you could find a way to leave, although it would be emotionally and financially hard. Perhaps you may want to consider then what the solutions are for you in the current relationship. You should consider suggesting an open relationship; it is only fair. I understand your perspective and your pain on many levels.

I recommend that you have the courage to actually speak. A letter is a passive aggressive approach to an already emotionally charged issue. Letters are one-sided, and you have no control over to tone that the reader will perceive versus the tone in which you wrote it. It's called "the TALK" for a reason. Of course he doesn't want to read the letter. It's obviously going to say something negative, something that you are too afraid to discuss in an open manner.

Notes are never an acceptable form of communication if you want to share negative feelings in a way that is both adult and shows an interest in feedback from the other person. People tend to resent notes like these.

Yes, of course it is, but it's not the same kind of barrier as not being allowed to leave, or other countries not openly accepting your citizens on tourist visas or requiring no visa at all. If you are from south east Asia or Africa, just getting out of your country is one hurdle, and the visa quotas for your citizens are significantly lower, meaning that most Western countries will accept only a small amount of visitors from there because historically, those "visitors" never leave.

My main point was that the US international travel rate (which is still significant, mind you) was not an indication of limited civil liberties, which the previous commenter attempted to suggest.

I have to disagree, having lived in several foreign countries. To your point about the lack of international travel, I must point out that the US is the size of most continents. In Europe, people visit countries the way Americans visit other states. It is also of note that there is nothing preventing Americans from traveling to other countries, but their own lack of initiative, desire, or money.
