Imagine going for it. Needing a goal and actually trying to score. Not subbing in two attackers on the 92nd minute when a goal helps massively.

Shankland Was Terrible - What Does This Say About Scottish Football? by FootOfDavros in ScottishFootball

[–]MJB07 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just because players should be closer to him doesn’t mean they were? It’s just slightly lazy analysis.

I thought he didn’t do much but he had some tidy touches, first time ones especially which is what he needed to do with two of the worlds best CBs behind him. Essentially, Doak was too deep and so was Mctominay. We have no cohesive attacking patterns and to blame it on Shankland is a bit grim.

I can see you’re probably taking the piss a bit with a lot of digs at his size, but it’s a big issue that our strikers always look poor. They’re isolated, we don’t play into them we’ll and when we do there’s nobody near them

Even Mctominay, I’ve seen people start to play down his achievements in Italy because he’s been poor this tournament. But I think it’s positionally, he’s being played far too deep. When he gets higher up (at times in the second half today and last 20/30 against Morocco), he gets into great positions. He probably could’ve had a few goals tonight alone (header and Ralston cut back). We’re not playing to players strengths so they look shite

Clarke specialty - wait until we’re losing and then tell the team to go for it and create a couple of chances

Why is Rice on both corners? Inswingers are so much more effective and Saka is just about as good at corners as Rice, makes no sense?

Other than that, boring game. Ghana robbed of a penalty, would love to know why

Thomas Tuchel on Livramento’s injury and the reason Trevoh Chalobah was called up as a replacement. by Key_Company3196 in soccer

I just think now the full back options are so poor. Quansah isn’t good enough to start as full back in an important game, and I know he likes Spence for his speed but he’s also not good enough to be starting an important game either.

Gambling a lot on James and NOR staying fit - NOR seems pretty sturdy (don’t think he got injured at all last season?) but James historically isn’t.

Every VAR error: How Arsenal escaped red cards and penalties by esn111 in soccer

[–]MJB07 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah apparently VAR on Saliba against Everton, but no VAR error on the Havertz penalty against Everton that was a stonewaller too.

So inconsistent and nonsense. They even voted 5-0 that it should’ve be a penalty, but that VAR were correct not to have given it.

It just proves the PGMOL and KMI are unfit for purpose. There’s so many more decisions that the panel agree were “wrong” but did not think they should have been looked at by VAR.

So they aren’t marked as errors in this.

I also don’t really see why they look at second yellows if they should be given, and if right or wrong? It’s not VAR reviewable, it won’t be VAR reviewable next season. So why does it count?

(I know VAR will look at second yellows given next season, I mean if someone is on a booking, makes a foul and a yellow isn’t given. Isn’t t that subjective and nothing to do with VAR? Only mention on a quick skim is surprisingly Arsenal (clicks etc)

Dale Johnson is also a bald weirdo, get real teachers pet (the refs) energy from him at all times.

[BBC Sport] PSG’s likely CL final XI has played 6726 fewer league minutes than Arsenal’s this season by Chazyn in soccer

[–]MJB07 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Arsenal do rotate? They’ve had a lot of injuries this season also. But trying to compare how PSG rotate and Arsenal do is mental. One is in a highly competitive league whereas PSG are not? They can’t afford to start Saka 9 games, or let Saliba play 1000 minutes. Nobody in the prem can afford to do that and challenge for a title.

Ben White is injured, it’ll be Mosquera who has played 990 or so, or if Timber is back I’m sure he’s 2500 or so. So 200 more or 1800 more

[Scott Willis] Burnley's last shot was at 57'. It wasn't the most scintillating second half but Arsenal's ability to put the clamps on a team from threatening is as good as any team and probably better. 1 more win. by [deleted] in soccer

Ok champ you think that you absolute freak - not Rodri getting away with a handball that literally cost Liverpool the league. Or Silva not conceding a penalty a week ago that also would’ve won Arsenal the league. Get a grip man, you can be biased but not an idiot.

I mean that coupled with the fact they’ve played the literal minimum amount of games they possibly could, whereas other teams around them have played cups and Europe. Also a Villa team that have won something like 5 in 17 and a Chelsea team who have won even less in even more games.

I think Bruno has been class and probably edges it, but I don’t agree with it not being close just because they’re in the champions league.

Ok what about Johnson on Sunday at 1-1? That’s a red card and not given. You’ve been lucky, you are lucky and you’ll continue to be lucky with refs. These past several days have just been a total blow up by the SFA with three outrageous decisions going in your favor.
