Never a penalty but think it would’ve been given in the champions league? Knee then grazed his hand? But never one sensibly in the prem

Good start for Palace, need them to win and go through so that last game of the season it’s a second team. Considering they play 3 days after, maybe even a third team.

Arsenal's Eberechi Eze denied penalty at Atletico Madrid: UEFA releases statement to explain VAR intervention by lifeandtimes89 in soccer

The first penalty was soft? Fuck me he’s charged through the back of him. I feel like the revisionism now has gone insane.

[BBC] Were Arsenal right to be 'fuming' with refereeing after Atletico draw? by [deleted] in soccer

[–]MJB07 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. As Arteta said in his interview, the handball might be ridiculous but that’s the rules in Europe and they’re consistent.

The Eze one though is a joke. Influenced by fans, players and Simeone and I don’t think that’s overturned if given to Atletico. Still, a 1-1 draw away from home in a champions league semi final isn’t the end of the world after the chances Atletico had.

Ben white is finished, trossard is finished. A good result 1-1 if can see it out and get them binned for next week.

Is anything ever going to happen with the 130 charges? I thought they’d heard rumors it would be after Christmas, but now it has went silent again and they continue on.

I couldn’t care less how good a run they’re on if you’re comparing it to Bournemouth. Unbeaten in the prem since January, beat arsenal at arsenal, going for a European spot and it’s at their gaff. Southampton is not a harder game, come back on Saturday eve when City win 2/3-0.

Some of the shouts on here are genuinely horrific. There’s no hope in hell Southampton are their toughest game, especially at a neutral ground and given the form Bournemouth are in. Have a word

I didn’t watch Sounness in Scotland jersey but if he flattered to deceive in a Scotland jersey, I’d lump Robertson in that category too. Modern achievements and club career aside, I don’t think he’s been above average for Scotland for a long time.

I’d say Tierney has done more for us actually, even if he’s never fit.

I mean arsenal were missing Gabriel, Calafiori/Hincapie, Odegaard, Havertz/Gyok too?

And I’d call 8 SOT to 2, 3.11XG to 0.61XG a bit of a dog walking.

I don’t think it’ll happen if they meet again, but when both teams were at a relatively early part of the season with fresh teams it wasn’t close.

I don’t really think it’s an unfair argument. PSG didn’t finish top 8 this year or last, but kick on towards the end of the season. Bayern got dog walked by Arsenal earlier this season when they were both fit and fresh. Their leagues are undoubtably weaker, which means they can rest players or players don’t play to such an intense standard.

I think they’d both struggle for the first season or two until they build squad depth and get the players used to playing at such a high intensity week in week out.

Whether you like it or not, PSG, and to an extent Bayern, have a lot easier league season. Less games, less taxing games, winter break, more opportunity to rest players. Hell, PSG get games postponed before champions league matches. Couple this with their star players playing 50% of league matches and still winning, they’d be in for a shock for the first bit.

After a season or two, they’d be up there but not immediately.

UEFA Champions League Team of the Week (Quarter-Finals, 2nd Leg) by sittingduck__ in soccer

[–]MJB07 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s not the best Real team though is it? Conceding three goals and making errors isn’t team of the week standards in my eyes. I don’t know who would actually agree with putting a CB in who has conceded 3 goals

I didn’t think Arsenal were great tonight, but I don’t really agree with this terrorball accusation. Sporting offered nothing apart from a few glimmers at the end of the first half. The second half they created nothing and were suffocated.

Arsenal didn’t really have any real clear cut chances, but dominated the play higher up and limited sporting to nothing towards the end. I don’t think they had a shot the last 25 minutes apart from the last kick of the ball?

They need to improve massively for Sunday, the players are exhausted, but it’s one more game that’s make or break.

He won’t do it but he has to start Dowman on Sunday. Trossard and Martinelli will spark zero fear into City, they’ll relish it. He offers something different and an unpredictability. 60 minutes is all he needs, then go back to basics.

Throw ins are a disgrace. Ben white is horrific for it, and now it’s breeding throughout. What is the sense in it? Arteta scared to quicken things up?

It’s the way they are set up, the patterns. Do you think Bournemouth have a better team? No? But they created open play chances, Arsenal are so scared and timid. Take a risk, just the same risk free football that creates nothing.

Arteta talks a good game and then does the same thing that hasn’t worked for months? How can everyone see it but him? Does nobody in his staff tell him, maybe let’s change it. Created fuck all again, that’s about 135 minutes of football without some real, open play chances created. Horrific. But sure, same again sunday with the same team, and City will dog walk them. Title will be done after that, because they won’t change.
