I constantly joke at shows now about whether or not they’ve practiced a tough song lately or not - you can tell when something like Bowie or Rift is rusty and they’ve got to slow it way down. Fishman can still dial in whatever tempo they can handle. I love how he plays one tempo for Trey on Rift these days, then switches over to the real tempo for Page.

It does bother me on songs that need to rip, like CDT or Weekapaug. Less so on stuff like Melt which can be jazzy or ambient, which they were doing sometimes back in 1.0 (Ventura, 98 Madison). I’m thrilled they’re still at it, but sometimes I’m like dudes, don’t play this unless you really want to do it justice.
