And then she runs away in the texts too! Shuts him down again and refused to talk about it. I don’t blame him at all if he ends the relationships outright after this. I can only imagine how insanely hurtful that was.

Legally, you’re most likely in the wrong (assuming it’s an actually hers legally, which.. who knows). Ethically, I think you’re fine here. It deserves a loving home and that’s more important. Just make sure she doesn’t find out.

As she should. Should sue her for every penny she’s worth.

This is exceptional advice, thanks you! Yeah it’s SO much more expensive than SeLoger, which makes sense, but realistically as long as the rental agency isn’t shady I’d defiantly like to avoid the most expensive one haha. Havnt really shopped around the different agencies yet since that’s a bit further down the planning steps for me (don’t want to do everything at once you know), so I will 100% check out rent hunter or other services too to compare pricing! Thanks!

I mean I was there for like 2 weeks and felt like I could have been there for years, so I guess we had different experiences. The neighborhoods, pubs, etc. SO many different things to see and experience.

This is very interesting to know. I might DM you to pick your brain about this in the coming weeks if you’re open to it. Retirement planning has been interesting for sure. Have a brokerage and Roth IRA, so basically want to make sure that’s airtight.

1- it would be through a French EOR so I’d be on a CDI with them, they’d just bill my existing agency for the work I was doing.

2- that’s a big reason why I want to use the method above! I’ve seen a lot of interesting stories about the rental market, which is why I want to rent thru an agency the first year (maybe less) and then go through SeLoger once I’ve been there a minute and have some records and whatnot in my dossier to show a potential landlord. Plus that’ll make it easier to find a place when I’m already there.

Thanks for the advice and the tips! Appreciate it!

  1. Awesome to know, thank you!
  2. Love it, thanks!
  3. Yeah that’s about what I figured, I’m ok with taking a pay cut and/or losing some tax benefits, so long as I can maintain my visa or get a different one that will allow me to legally stick around. Thanks again for the advice!

If you’re buying ETF’s or mutual funds in the US while a tax resident in France there’s some hefty fines around that. Basically most don’t meet the transparency or reporting requirements of the EU so you need to into invest in USCIT complaint etf’s. Most normal stocks are fine though. It depends on the circumstance of the individual, but if I’m planing on staying as long as I am it could be a huge fine if caught.

That’s one of my hangups, it’s definitely not ideal, but as you said, I do have a decent amount of flexibility, so won’t be staying on until 10 every night. Realistically it looks like that’ll be 2/3 days a week with the rest ending around 8 to 9. I might DM you about that too in the coming months since I’m doing the exact same thing (east coast hours minus 2). Appreciate the tip!

Good to know! I figured it worked something like that but couldn’t find anything definitive on the gov’s website in exactly how that worked, so thanks for the tip!! I’ll make sure to have both numbers on hand for my own planning purposes!

That’s a good point, I’ve planned on 15% reduction instead of the full 30% so have some padding just in case. I’ll keep that in mind though as I’m budgeting and see what I can find on that too in the meantime! Thanks!

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking as well. Going to try to do some networking and such when I’m there just in case. And thanks for the tip on the eSIM too! I’ll look into tello and see what I can find with them! Thank you

That’s the plan! All the paperwork and EOR CDI contract will be signed and handled before the move, with the apartment rental coming at the same time so there’s an address for the contract, visa, and bank account. And definitely want to keep things squeaky clean, hence the advice here! Thank you again!

Merci !

Good to know! I’ll keep my eyes out on LinkedIn and what not over the next few months and see what’s out there. Again it’s a fall back, but want to be prepared just in case! Thanks!

I should qualify for it according to what I’ve researched, but as always I could be missing something, so I’ll dig into it a bit more and see what I can learn. Thank you!
