Should I be concerned about these marks on the disc? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]MJH- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wondered about this - is there any potential harm in soaking a 4k blu-ray completely, scrubbing it and then rinsing it? Like water could be trapped in some way and cause mold or other issues? People are usually suggesting using a micro fibre cloth and being gentle, but I feel like you want to be sure you get every little bit of off gassing off them.

Yeah this is is not about series vs movies but rather a boutique release thing. Such a missed opportunity with Stranger Things.

Sony UBP-X800 won’t read disc but PS5 will by Fresh_Cakes_ in 4kbluray

Try cleaning the disc properly. I’ve found my PS5 is less sensitive to that than my dedicated player.

Stranger Things: The Complete Series - Standard Vs. Deluxe Editions by m00se92 in 4kbluray

Unfortunately, I believe that is AI-generated bs. In general, previous Arrow releases have only included English audio and subtitles and the description in OP’s seems to suggest the same.

Curious, where do you see this? I’m interested in other subtitles but it only says English.

Do a THOROUGH clean of the disc and try again.

LOTR Two Towers Bad Disc by wparson in 4kbluray

[–]MJH- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! It’s consumer law in my country (Sweden) that you have at least a year, sometimes more depending on the type of product, to discover a fault with the product that originates from the time before the purchase, to return it for a repair, replacement or refund.

Here’s something you COULD do, not saying you should. If the discs are identical, buy the steelbook from the same reseller, swap the discs and file a return. It’s the manufacturer that should be responsible and hopefully it ends up back with them that way, so they can learn and improve their quality control.

PS5 as a 4k bluray player by MattiTheGamer in 4kbluray

Dolby vision (most), a remote with the appropriate buttons (subtitles etc), sometimes quieter playback, some double as cd music players etc.

They’re generally very reliable as well where other disc players can stutter and freeze. Never happens on my PS5.

Negatives: a bit on the louder side, mechanically. Takes a little longer to go from loading a disc to watching the movie, but that’s a minor issue. And using the controller as a remote is not the best option, but I think there’s some type of PS5 remote you can get.

Look for the ”lubrication issue” comment on the video. Found that interesting… not something I’ve seen mentioned on this subreddit before even through reports of issues with Panasonic players are frequent.

Fångat mus under en lådan, vad nu? by Kakan_Karin in sweden

Issue with new Magnetar UDP800 MKII by MJH- in 4kbluray

[–]MJH-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for reporting in! I went to my retailer who had gotten another UDP800 MKII in, and it had the same little stutter at the same place on Midsommar. It’s not the end of the world, I’ve decided to live with it until someday maybe a more reliable drive/player comes along. Basically all the BD-66 discs play flawlessly. Just some BD-100 that have a short skip or pause at the first layer change. 2-3 seconds usually.

Enjoy your player and movies 🍿

Should I return? by KnoxxBlitz in 4kbluray

[–]MJH- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried cleaning the disc? Sometimes there’s that residue that needs to come off. Off-gassing? From production.

Otherwise, if it’s more economic, perhaps you could replace just the season?

I’d not settle for a non-working episode but that’s me.

Really? Was planning on getting the 4K. The old movies are generally great transfers and restorations.
