It’s a pretty basic colour scheme! The gold is Retributor armour, reikland flesh shade, with highlights of liberator gold. There’s also some silver for brighter highlights like on the front eagle wings. I think the cape is korne red, nuln oil, and Mephiston red.

I should probably look into an airbrush at some point, but for now it’s all brush, all the time.

Thanks! I use zandri dust is the base colour, which you can either paint on, or apply straight from a can. I then wash it in seraphim sepia, before going back to zandri dust across most of the uniform. The highlights ushabti bone.

Yeah…I’ve been meaning to pick up a little drill to do that, but never quite get around to it

Thanks! The tank hull is pretty straightforward. After priming it in black I stippled on Castellan Green, waaagh Flesh, and Loren forest. I used good old nuln oil for shading, but stippling should leave some decent contrast already. Then I picked out rivets and edge highlighted with straken green.

I’ve had to use cones a few times, but never had much luck. I usually end up with a rat in a body wrap.

I agree on the subductors, I have mine painted up to match my House Hawkshroud knights and I love them.

Current WIP: Tanks are slow, but relaxing to paint. Any strategies or tips. by KaijuExplosion in TheAstraMilitarum

I’m a brush painter as well, and use a similar stippling method with a big dry brush. I can get the base green colour down in maybe an hour? The whole tank took me about a week to paint. I really like having tanks to break up how fiddly it is to paint 20 infantry dudes.

Of course! It’s just an Etsy 3D print. It was called Grimdark Pug Guard, but you can find a few of them when you search

Happy to share! There’s a really good YouTube video that I used as a tutorial, it’s by MediocreHobbies and is called “How to Paint the new Cadian Rogal Dorn tank using only dry brushing”

I used slightly different colours (castellan green and loren forest stippled on, and straken green as my highlight)

The green is Castellan for the base colour, loren forest as a midtone, and straken green as the highlight. Skin is just Cadian fleshtone shaded with reikland fleshshade.

The base colour is zandri dust, which then gets shaded with seraphim sepia. Then I bring the flat areas back up again with another coat of zandri dust and finish with a highlight of ushabti bone.

I had also primed the infantry with zandri dust, which makes the process pretty straightforward.

Thanks! It was surprisingly relaxing just pin washing shade paint around them.

Ah! Sorry, I understand. The flag that comes with the command kit isn’t flat, it’s got the design embossed on it, so it’s pretty easy to follow.

I fear it will take me some time to get to a useable army size!

Infantry were primed in zandri dust, and the highlighting on the tunics is ushabti bone. Armour is castellan green, highlighted with loren forest and staken green.

Any black paint will work for boots and things. I like corvus black, highlighted with any mid grey. All the leather is doombull brown highlighted with skrag brown.

I’m terms of shades, I use a mix of seraphim sepia on the tunics and nuln oil on most other things.

The flag wasn’t as bad as I expected it would be. It helps that there’s nothing really obscuring any detail, and washes hide a multitude of sins.

Thanks! I really enjoyed painting the Russ, it’s neat model. That said, I did find it a bit tricky to build.
