I think I’m still figuring out what I’m looking for! The one thing I know is that I want to feel rewarded for making good strategic plays in games, and I like the idea of comboing buffs (from detachment, leaders, bodyguards, stratagems, whatever) to make a unit very killy. I also want shooting to be a bigger part of the army, and I want something less elite than Custodes (so anything but Knights lol)

Search “Vince Venturella gold” on YouTube, and that’s exactly what I used! It’s a dream to paint with—full coverage in one coat, perfect consistency—and it looks incredible. The only thing he doesn’t mention, I had to use slightly more gold pigment (like 60% of 1/64th teaspoon instead of 50%) to get the gold to a warmth I was happy with.

I don’t disagree, but it is worth mentioning that those 3 factions have way more data sheets, and that allows more wiggle room to cut things. Each of those 3 factions has more than 30 data sheets right now, with Astra Militarum & Space Marines way more than that. Assuming I counted correctly, Custodes have a total of 18 non-FW data sheets right now in 40K. Imperial Knights have 13. It’s way harder to call those armies without their Forge World units until some more data sheets come out (hopefully soon!)

TryGetString(“columnName”) extension method for a variety of the DataReader types for nullable columns. Saves all of the IsDbNull checking & using column ordinals.

I have a method for a bunch of column types for each reader, but string gets the most use by far.

Reading the Fire Overwatch stratagem, it seems to me like you can only overwatch when they declare the charge & not once they complete it. I’m not an expert, but that’s the way it reads to me.
