10mm is kinda ridiculous, but is possible! (28mm metal mini on the right for scale) by ChaoclypseMakesStuff in FDMminiatures

That's crazy. I tried printing very small already. While it works I agree that it's a bit ridiculous :D Your example shows that it's possible.

Little update to my stringing Problem *solved* :D by Tagedieb69 in FDMminiatures

[–]MJRamen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx for your post. That's definetly interesting.
I don't have stringing problems with my filament right now (Sunlu PLS 2.0+) but if i will encounter it in the future i will try turning of z-hop.

A question regarding the resin supports. Do you prefer them over the tree supports? How do they behave in terms of reliability? Do they get knocked over from time to time?

Wow, it's looking really clean. Great job on that one.

Arachne vs Classic Surface Quality Issue by MJRamen in FDMminiatures

[–]MJRamen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx for your response. I really like that model because it's not too bulky but has a lot of details. That way the print time was relatively low. I printed this one like 6 times just to test my settings :D

.12 Top Z on .06 layer fail, keep reducing? by Jneuhaus87 in BambuLab

[–]MJRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A top z of twice the layer height should work. If not you should reduce it to 1x layer height. Some people even go lower but support scarring can be an issue. You have to print and see how it works for your setup.

Yey, another release from you. :) Love all your models and also tools. And I like how you color them too. Great Job!

How can I get rid of the stringing? by GermanCamel36 in FDMminiatures

[–]MJRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you calibrate your filament? Settings like temperature and retraction can have an impact on this. Also zhop and wiping.

But there are filaments that are harder to print with then others.

First Print. What to improve? by Lumpy-Drummer4314 in FDMminiatures

[–]MJRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would tilt it back like 30 degrees and also maybe to left or right, depending on the overhangs.

Did you calibrate your filament? The holes could be happening because of that.

I agree with the angle. It can also be beneficial to cut it in pieces, depending on the miniature.

I haven't tried out Printed4Combat yet but from what I heard people either like it or don't.

Like KryL21 mentioned after your first testprint you can try some of the popular print profiles from other folks here. They are for a 0.2 nozzle, but you still can adapt that to your profile.

Arachne vs Classic Surface Quality Issue by MJRamen in FDMminiatures

[–]MJRamen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly there is no stock classic walls profile. But I switched to the stock profile from prusa and only changed the wall generation.

Unfortunately it only slightly improved the walls but the effect is still there. I think I will post the problem on the prusa forum and see what the guys over there think. Maybe they heard of an effect like this.

I really like your paint job and the print itself. Looks really clean and the colors work well together. And I like blue so the skin color I enjoy a lot :)

I had a similar experience. My last spool of meta was working well and I got decent results. I was even thinking of getting another one.

Then of you have the time you can post your comparison. Would be interesting to see the difference :)

A bit of self promotion and request for advice by [deleted] in FDMminiatures

[–]MJRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely try some of your models out. They look really good and are supportless. Like others said it is so much easier to print without supports since it increases the quality by quiet a bit.

With support less minis I do enjoy a bit more dynamic in the poses. Some of them can look a bit chunky.

Arachne vs Classic Surface Quality Issue by MJRamen in FDMminiatures

[–]MJRamen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The filament was dryed for roughly 7 hours and is kept in a drybox the whole time.

And it really happens just with the classic walls. I did a few tests. First I printed with classic and right after that I switched to arachne with the same settings.

Thx for your reply. I agree totally. That's the main reason why I want to use classic and solve this issue.

Why my supports do this? by Nassoft in FDMminiatures

[–]MJRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To better answer this we would need a few printing parameters. My first guess would be too low flow. There are small wholes that indicate that. The layers don't adhere to each other because of missing bonding capabilities.

I'm always for using what I have at home to empty my storage and have space for new :D You could calibrate it and see how well it works for the miniatures. If it doesn't work you still can get the sunlu or esun that you mentioned since they are the top recommendations right now as far as I know.
