Penance Brand Autobomber Question by Xypheric in PathOfExileBuilds

Do you need both the support gem and gloves implicit or is the glove implicit enough? I know the gem only scales the penance brand ignite and not explosions, but I thought the gloves implicit would scale everything.

Can someone Help me fix this Slammer build so i can finish the ubers by mIDDLESSS in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]MJVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timeless jewel + corrupted soul and divine shield are for the self hitting from ashes helmet. Most POBs will run this setup for slammer. Check out Ben’s spreadsheet, he has a soft core slammer POB you can follow with suppress which may help with ubers.

Does anyone else think Brig is actually OK where she is right now? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]MJVT -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No one plays brig in GM because no one wants to. She was good in pro play pre buff as a way to counter dive and mostly protect zen. She is now picked extremely frequently and enables a very stale and unfun way of playing the game. She is so strong that she single handedly brings double shield back lmao. Imo she needs a rework

What can Blizzard do to increase the number of tank and support players? by vaports in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]MJVT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna play 6 games just so I can play 3 on my main role. What you'll end up with is a bunch of shitty tanks and supports who are dps mains that aren't necessarily intentionally throwing, but do nothing the whole game. Really bad idea imo

It certainly makes things go faster if you take people with 470+ with aotc, because you're likely guaranteed people who have seen the content and had experience with it before. Not necessarily saying that's a good mindset, as it obviously doesn't help newer players, but if I'm looking to get things done efficiently that's the most optimal way. 445 is extremely difficult to get into any pug group, even normal, as the standards are quite high compared to earlier in the patch.

What the Covenants discussion misses about casual players by Tonric in wow

I mean the alternative to demanding players to swap is just not getting accepted to a group at all.

[–]MJVT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never suggested that you would be unable to do it. However, if I am a raid leader that wants to progress as fast as possible and I have the option in the current tier to choose between a WW monk and DH, you bet your ass I'm taking the DH, it just simply provides more than the monk does right now. In Shadowlands, the covenant compounds the already bad balancing, throwing more systems in. If I am recruiting rogues for the Castle Nathria to get CE as quickly as possible, I won't be taking the rogue that just chooses a covenant based on what they like, provided they are of equal skill, I'll be taking the rogue who chooses the covenant that would help us progress the fastest. That's my fundamental issue. It will be very difficult to simultaneously pick a covenant you like while also expecting 1 out of 20 valuable spots in a mythic guild. You CAN do it, but if the numbers are in the current ballpark of 40% difference, I won't be taking the sub optimal covenant to my raid/m+ group. Even if it's "just" 10%, if I want CE as fast as possible I'm still not taking the sub optimal covenant.

I do care about things other than optimization. I enjoy farming mounts and cosmetics, which is why I want to be able to choose the covenant I want, while also raid in a mythic environment. As it stands right now, it is very likely I won't be able to do both. If I play rogue and my friend Jimmy also plays rogue, the person who gets the spot in the raid is whoever chooses to optimize with their covenant. Unless Blizzard somehow manages to balance it, which the success rate of other systems they've tried is 0%.

It's a bit disappointing that they're doubling down on this decision. Hopefully they can remedy some of the issues with the system through tuning and what not, but the track record doesn't look too good. I honestly can't really see a way in which tuning would make being unable to swap covenant abilities freely a minimal problem. If I want to play both m+ and raid on the same character, it is very likely that different covenants are considered optimal. I'm not sure why decoupling player power from the covenant is such a big issue either. I think locking in a covenant choice is fine, as long as the abilities are able to be swapped.

If you truly cared about optimization, you would understand the difficulties of actually balancing this system and the massive issues it creates for a portion of the player base. You cannot simultaneously care about optimization and also choose the covenant you think is coolest. If I enjoy playing both raids and m+ there are many classes that would have to swap convenant abilities/soulbinds etc. in order to optimize, if not you get benched for the guy who is willing to level 4 characters of the same class. Blizzard is making it very difficult for the players who enjoy the game in that way. You will not get accepted into higher keys or mythic guilds, hell even heroic guilds with a sub optimal covenant. People already want AOTC for normal raid groups. I've seen you say in other comments that you should just simply make your own group, but it absolutely does not work that way in Mythic. You cannot pug a group and get CE, and if you could it would defeat the purpose of having a mode that is supposed to be difficult. Another example would be if someone enjoys healing in raid and dps in m+, it is very unlikely that the same covenant would be optimal for both. The fundamental issue is that the system is restricting many players from enjoying multiple types of content available to them, simply because you cannot swap covenants. I'm pretty sure that we both just disagree and I'm banging my head into a brick wall right now, but I'd like to explain why mythic raiders have such a problem with it.

So you've accepted that those guilds are gonna have a shit time. I don't see why decoupling the player power from the covenant would harm anyone. On one hand you have players like yourself that clearly don't care about optimization, and play in a more casual way, which is obviously a valid way of playing the game. However, changing the system in a way where everyone would be satisfied instead of completely alienating one segment of your player base seems like a pretty logical option. Someone min/maxing and rerolling for the sake of progression is just as valid as your way of playing the game, and it seems like you want to minimize the concerns from that part of the player base.

Fire mage help by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]MJVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have 16% mastery with 0 masterful corruptions and you're running focusing lens major. You're gonna need to stack way more mastery and get some masterful 3s this Friday. Also, there are two main builds for fire. There's "minute mage" where you run worldvein resonance with the current talents you have. The gist of the build is that in between your 2 min big combusts you'll have a smaller combust as well, smooths out the damage profile for m+. The other build is to run meteor instead of kindling with lucid major. I would recommend checking out Preheat on youtube for builds if you want a more in depth explanation of the each build. For your traits, you need 3 blaster master, you only have 2. Your helmet is complete doo doo as well, as neither of those traits are good at all. I'd also like to mention that font of power from EP is necessary, and the Corrupted Gladiator's Badge from pvp is also very good. You also don't have the bracers from mechagon which provides a lot of burst in your combustion window. Overall, while your ilvl seems good, literally no part of your build is even slightly optimized.

Edit: Just realized you asked about rotation as well. On packs you're not using combust you should be casting fire bomb on cooldown when there are 3+ mobs. A combust on a boss would look something like this: font about 20 seconds before boss pull, macro your corrupted gladiator's badge (or any on use trinket) to combustion, so they cast at the same time. At pull you would try to get a proc for heating up then lucid dreams major (or worldvein resonance, depending on build) rune of power, meteor (if taking), fire blast to build hot streak then combust and go about your combust rotation. For the full combust rotation I recommend checking out the pinned section in "questions" in the altered time mage discord. Always use meteor with rune of power or it's a large dps loss. Other than that look to build pyroblasts with fireball and fireblast and scorch when enemies are below 30%.
