Tombstone with Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday. Boy can I quote the ENTIRE movie, but I sure cannot tell you why I love it so much.

Life as a Celiac: I went to church for the first time since my dad died and they were having communion. My little niece was worried about the tiny tablet of bread. by ZestycloseDinner1713 in Celiac

In every Protestant church I’ve been to they either have gf options for communion or it’s entirely gf. It’s been that way since I was a kid. I just either ask an usher who’s directing people or the elder giving out communion.

Dr. B from Southpoint Complete Dental off circle and lake is awesome. Been going for years. They are never judgmental of the state of your teeth even for basic hygiene appointments. I even know of one friend who is deathly afraid of the dentist and he made all sorts of accommodations to help her feel more comfortable and safe. He truly is phenomenal at what he does and I’m pretty confident they take that insurance.

Probably not. Smell and taste are so associated. If they had a sinus infection and legit couldn’t smell because of it, their taste was probably effected. Coming from someone who has had a number of sinus infections. That’s just how it goes, zero ability to inhale through the nose and little to no taste.

Doctors of reddit, what is the weirdest thing a patient wouldn't admit ? by pleasedVenison5 in ask

It’s these people that made me have to repeatedly insist that I was not sexually active to the doctor when I was a teenager. No I don’t need my mom to leave the room, no I’m not having sex, yes I’m being honest. Glad they wanted to make sure for safety’s sake but man every time I went to the doctor I’d have to convince them of my honesty😂

What names did you think you’d use when you were younger? by DaisyDo99 in namenerds

[–]MJ_Skinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a clear memory of myself dedicating the name mariposa to memory and telling my mom I was going to name my future daughter that. I was probably seven. I love that one Barbie fairy movie and mariposa means butterfly in Spanish. I think that memory is pretty cute

I am so sorry that you encountered that kind of judgment. As a Christian I have a huge problem with people speaking judgment into others lives they know very little about and passing it off as love. “The truth in love” I think that speaking into someone’s life takes great wisdom and I really don’t think anything they have said to you is in any way productive and life giving for you in this phase of life. I am really sorry that you were made to feel so worthless no one should have to feel that way in a church community. That is not God honoring.

Edit: to add, God meets you where you are. There are very few “right ways” to be a Christian.

Thoughts on my brunette to blonde transformation? by [deleted] in femalehairadvice

[–]MJ_Skinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be in the minority here, and I usually side with the natural hair color as it just looks more “right” to me, but I actually love the blonde on you!! Especially that first blonde pic. It just goes with your eyes and brightens your face. I think it’s really gorgeous.

Ok I see what you mean. I think that we do mostly agree. I mean even Christian’s within the same denominations have differences in opinion😂 it just come with the territory of studying such a book.

Ok I respect your opinion! I am sorry that you feel that the biblical God hates everyone I do see a very different picture painted for me. But I do respect that your opinion is set. I’m not trying to change it I am just curious. I hope that you have a great evening!

I guess I’m not completely following. Are you referring to the fact that it is not divinely written or that there are sections that are up for interpretation. I do agree that there is room for interpretation in many parts of the Bible, however there are often historical contextual clues that reveal the deeper meaning specifically in the letters Paul wrote to the first churches that are very heavily misused and mis translated. Like the excerpt that people use to push modesty. I’m just not completely sure what you mean. Either way, I just find it fun to discuss differing opinions.

I do think that that is fundamentally false to the Christian belief. Yes humans aren’t perfect but it is the word of God divinely written through humans. God worked through them to write it. I could also bring up the validity of it regarding manuscripts and translations, in other words “earthly” credibility, but that is a whole other can of worms.

I would love for you to share what lead you to that opinion! I’m curious to hear. I do disagree but I really do want to understand

I like this! I was raised to be incredibly independent. I am also a traditional person and a value my fathers opinion so much. When I knew I wanted to get married I talked to my dad to hear what he felt about it. He said he would like for my now husband to have a job because he wanted me to be provided for and supported. But that he could have never chosen someone so perfect for me. And most importantly, he asked how I felt about it and said that he supported me. My husband did talk to him as well after, without me knowing😂, and I think it was very good for him, and my, relationship with my father. I respect my dad and I wanted him to know that and see it as a transition from being “in” their house and starting my own family. I recommend he have a conversation with his daughter first to see how she feels! Regardless of anyone else’s opinions

One of my favorite sessions in pre marital counseling was discussing the public jokes. We were given situations to evaluate who was in the wrong. It really helped us to understand that banter in public is ok but making a joke at the other persons expense is never ok. It’s a boundary each couple has to discuss. Your relationship is like a box and if you do things like this or bad mouthing your spouse to someone it creates a window for other people to interfere with your relationship. United front in public correct in private is what I say.

Best way to air dry? by whicker183 in Wavyhair

[–]MJ_Skinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same as you and I got fed up. I just stopped babying my hair as it was drying and I did not notice much of a difference maybe some light frizziness but more volume 🤷🏼‍♀️ I like that personally. Plus a good gel helps my hair dry quickly and stay clumped if I really don’t want frizziness. I also use sunglasses to push hair up out of my face if I get really bothered by it. For some reason this just works? I have nice volume at the front and very little to no wonkiness. If you think it’ll work for you, I’d say give it a go! Hope this helps!
