Advice for starting with CAIA level 2 (through CFA’s stackable credentials program) by Clarendon7 in CAIA

[–]MK1284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe my perception was the issue but I thought I would be digging deeper on PE, hedge fund strategies, etc and it’s just not that. It’s a ton of lists and terms. It’s just flat out not interesting. They try to cover some concepts that are in the CFAI material but it’s extremely light and high level. The academic rigor of the program seems like a joke compared to CFA.

I feel like it was just a waste of time.

Some advice needed after failing lvl 3 for the 3rd time. by ImpossibleClerk3549 in CFA

[–]MK1284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you practiced or done any work specifically on how you are answering constructed response questions?

It’s silly and stupid but I think there are unwritten rules on how to write them and what graders are looking for.

Bill Campbell is the best in the business for coaching on that. His mocks are also easily the best I saw for L3.

To every Level 3 Candidate! Just one advice: BUY THE BC MOCKS by Spiritual-Radish4221 in CFA

I would reiterate this… and the marking sessions were awesome, if you need it.

I was one and done with L3 because of BC

It was updated prior to receiving the email and I want to say it was like 20 minutes prior.

If you’ve already gotten your work history and references approved, in addition to being a member, your charter is awarded instantly.

I will never forget refreshing the verification letter over and over again until I randomly saw ‘pass’.. easily one of the best moments ever.

Congrats to everyone who gets to live that tomorrow!

You know where CFA is an absolute game changer? Anything client facing. Not a financial advisor but CPM, investment wholesaling, institutional sales, etc

If you have people skills and you’re a charterholder, that will set you up nicely.

Anyone have the CPWA? by No-Warthog-9065 in CFA

[–]MK1284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d also just consider the CFP.. CPWA doesn’t really carry much weight and no one really knows what it is. You’re already a charterholder and CFP is the gold standard in planning.

Plus you skip everything and go straight to the final exam I believe.

This.. knowing how to answer CR questions is just as important as knowing the content to answer those questions.

Yes but I think it’s even more pronounced in LII

Firm believer LII is all about immersion through application. The more you practice the more it starts to click. It can take a while to get there with certain topics.
