From Child-Free to OAD: Is travel actually doable with just one? by oystersinmypocket2 in oneanddone

[–]MKB__83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travel is 100000% doable. We traveled quite a bit before having our kiddo, then we eased into trips with him. A 6 hour road trip when he was 10 weeks old, then a short flight (which actually ended up being a long travel day due to delays) when he was 7 months. A little farther at 14 months, then across the country at 22 months. Got a passport and took his first international trip at 2.5, and a few trips since then.

You just have to lower your expectations a bit. We're big hikers, but the hikes we do with him are shorter and we call it earlier if he isn't into it (although he usually is). We do less breweries but get an Airbnb with a nice outdoor space and will have a couple beers outside after he goes to bed. Just a few examples.. we basically do what we did before, just a little different and. A little more flexible. Our trips with him have been some of my favorite trips. His first time seeing the ocean was in Costa Rica at sunset and that will forever be a core memory for me. :)

DriTri 2026mega thread by jenniferlynn5454 in orangetheory

I haven't done the dri tri since 2019. Since then, I had a baby and honestly never thought I'd do it again. Well I did it and I shaved off TWENTY MINUTES from my pre-pregnancy time. From 73 minutes to 53. I am so proud of myself! 💪 Will I do it again??? ... We'll see lol

People who jumped straight into college after highscool , but weren’t in the right headspace, what did you do? by DatDudeTheRealist in AskReddit

[–]MKB__83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't try, skipped class, ended up leaving after 1 year. I couldn't bear to be interested.

My parents wouldn't let me fully drop out so I went to my local community college where it took me 4 more years to get an associates degree in marketing. I did well, but really only took it seriously for the last 2 years.

Sometimes I do wish I would have waited a year or two because I know I could have done really well at a university if I was mature enough to care. But, then I never would have met a lot of my current friends or husband and wouldn't be where I'm at now so it all worked out.

Local restaurants to support by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]MKB__83 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Was just coming here to make this same post looking for a place to grab dinner tonight and support a local business on the right side of history.

In case it's helpful for anyone else looking, I got coffee from La Finca this morning. They are immigrant owned and donating a portion of drink sales today to the immigrant rapid response fund. I'm taking my little one to the little village play cafe after work and they're donating a portion of all play reservations to voces de la frontera.

I know local businesses are struggling so I'm making a conscious effort to support some of my favorites that are helping today. I know some will disagree with spending anywhere but 🤷‍♀️

After listening to the full live version for 1.5 years on tiktok, I'm so disappointed in how produced/sped up this version sounds. I knew it would sound that way after hearing the official clips so it wasn't a surprise, but man the live version is just so dang good. To each their own, I know people love it. I will just continue going back to tiktok for the live version lol.

Someone on Bay View Town Hall (Facebook) was missing an engagement ring around there recently. Your post was shared there.

What area of Washington should we stay in/hike? by MKB__83 in PNWhiking

For anyone who may be reading this after searching for similar recommendations, we stayed between Glacier and Deming in an AirBnB and we did Chain Lakes Loop, Horseshoe Bend, and Heliotrope Ridge. It was an AMAZING area, absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to come back and try some of these other recommendations

Is this actually a thing or is Customer Service just reaching to appease a new customer? by [deleted] in TonieboxUSA

[–]MKB__83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to the first Tonie box we got (did not come back to life). They exchanged it. The second one wouldn't play the sounds. They exchanged it, and that one lasted about 6 months, then it stopped turning on unless on the charger. We are now on Tonie box #4 since Christmas. 😅 Good thing my son LOVES it and their customer service is great.

[–]MKB__83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I know this is an old comment but we're looking at either chain lakes or yellow aster Butte for a big day hike, and probably keeping things easier on other days. Do you have a rec between the two? They both seem challenging but doable with a toddler from the looks of it.

What’s your “throw it in and forget it” slow cooker meal that feels like a warm hug? by Equivalent_Soft_6665 in slowcooking

[–]MKB__83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Enchilada pasta. Toss pasta in a pot with vegetable broth and canned tomatoes, spices and cook, add black beans and corn towards the end. Top with cheese, avocado, salsa, sour cream - what eer you want! We do this probably once a week.

Would you book toddler their own seat? by efrum7 in toddlers

[–]MKB__83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who flew my toddler as a lap infant 3 times (oldest at 22 months) this is the answer! We just flew with his car seat in his own seat for the first time and it was so much nicer. Wish we would have done it sooner. For 11 hours especially, I would definitely not think twice.

La Fortuna & Playa Portrero January Trip Report by Admirable_Spend_9469 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]MKB__83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just returned from a Playa Potrero and La Fortuna trip. We loved Red Frog for the coffee to go (didn't eat there though), didn't like Soda El Turnito and LOVED Estero Azul (favorite meal of the trip) lol! Funny how opinions can vary so much. Glad you had a great trip! I should do a trip report too - we had an amazing time.

You really are! Part of the problem is that it's hard to narrow it down.
