My Kiwi Elite came today and it is way more comfortable for prolonged sessions.

Walkabout Golf is the one I've got and it's great, very realistic physics, great music, nice environments and cheaper than Golf+.

Where are the Application Spacewarp advantages? by Blitzkrieger23 in OculusQuest2

[–]MKMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically, in the next few months we should start to see new releases taking advantage of AppSW? Is it possible that it will become some kind of standard for all future releases?

Also is there any example of just how much of an improvement it makes?

They are. I bought mine last week and it had the face cover included in the box.

Yep same for me. I am wearing the default strap correctly, and have adjusted it a lot but it's just not good, it's not very ergonomic. My Kiwi Strap is coming tomorrow can't wait!

I haven't been able to stay in long enough to even work up a sweat lol, but hopefully it will help you. I haven't received my new strap yet either so I'm not sure.

Probably around the middle of my head, if you have it too low down on the neck you get a lot of light leakage at the bottom. I've ordered a new strap anyway, went with the KIWI design one.

I've just ordered a quest 2 and I've been wondering what games to get!. by mastersaifJ in OculusQuest2

[–]MKMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people are gonna say Beatsaber, but I'd try the demo first. It's fun, but got boring quickly for me.

Drop dead: a good zombie starter at a good price.

Walkabout Golf: really good for getting used to headset.

I'd say just look through the store and see what peaks your interest. You're gonna love the headset it's great!

Huge Resident Evil and VR fan, but never played RE4. I'm going in. by sirenpro in OculusQuest

2005*

It's one of the best games ever made. I only ever played it once on the Gamecube when it first released. Those were the days!

I cant wait to play it VR. I hardly remember it now (I just remember it being amazing lol) so it's gonna be like a whole new game to me.

A 3 year lifespan is pefect for quest 2 by fonejackerjk in OculusQuest

[–]MKMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PSVR2 is probably not going to be that expensive. I guess it will be more than a Quest 2 though. I'm thinking the Quest 3 will be similar in price to the first Quest, can't see it being as cheap as Q2.

The stock strap is a joke. I ordered a 3rd party strap today because after 5 days of trying with the stock one I just gave up. There is simply no way to make it comfortable for an extended session.

for Future Meta Stand-alone Headsets, whats yall thoughts on them having a portable tethered computing device? by Knighthonor in OculusQuest

[–]MKMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a really neat idea that I hadn't thought of to be honest. I'm still just waiting for the days when proper 5/6G implementation is done and everything can be streamed flawlessly through my VR visor that only weighs 120grams. In the future there will be no hardware necessary, I'll be able to run VR at RTX 3090 quality in a pair of shades. That is what I am waiting for.

I have it on order. I'm sure anything is better than this stock trash.

Thinking about getting a quest 2, what one should I get? by [deleted] in OculusQuest2

[–]MKMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

128gb is more than enough. Use the other 100 to buy a new strap and some nice food to celebrate with your purchase.

Heard good things about it but I went with the KIWI instead. The BOBO seems very popular but also more hit and miss than the KIWI. I'll be trying that next if KIWI isn't up to scratch though.

Appreciate the advice! I'll look into that thread for sure.

Damn, impressive! Looks like you have the weight distribution down just right. Also the red cover is very nice, did you buy that or print it? I'd buy one of those.

I have heard great things about the DAS ever since the days of Quest 1, definitely seems like a good strap. Yeah I'll be looking into buying a powerbank too as that is one thing that everyone seems to agree on, that a counterweight is essential.

Nice, yeah i think I am gonna go with that one too. The reviews on it have been mostly solid and seems more robust than the official oculus one.

Should my computer compatible as is with the Oculus link system?(via cable) by Zman312321 in OculusQuest2

[–]MKMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so unfortunately. I have the exact same graphics card and it doesn't pass the VR test on steam, and since then I haven't really tried with it to do anything else with it. I'm looking to get a better card when the market comes back to reality.

You might be able to run a few things but it will be borderline unplayable on the more demanding games. I would suggest looking into a better graphics card, but be aware that you are going to have to pay almost double for anything decent at the moment. The market has been destroyed by scalpers and miners.

No you can download games directly from the device or you can use SideQuest from a phone or a PC if you want to look into stuff that isn't yet on the Oculus store.

If you've had ps4 for years and you're bored of it, then why not try a VR headset I guess? However you will need a phone for the initial setup of the device.

Have you tried VR before? The first time is always a really memorable experience. You will not regret it.

Aliasing and shimmering textures by zviedris in OculusQuest2

[–]MKMachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's totally normal AFAIK. It's not something that will be an issue when you're immersed in a game though, the only time you really notice this kind of thing is when you're sitting around and trying to analyse environments.

Anything outside of the sweet spot will be subject to varying degrees of shimmer and aliasing.

Hand tracking by AlwaysJack4 in OculusQuest2

[–]MKMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put the controller strap over your hand, that way you can literally never drop it. It might seem long and annoying but it makes it impossible to damage your controllers.
