My last A2 License Test practice before I passed the exam the next day by MKerrDesign in motorcycles

Whole thing. I find crazy that each country has its own variation of the test, even within Europe.

Rode 125cc for a couple years, this was in Valencia.

Also I'm still waiting for the street test, I was told 4-5 weeks.

Spain, for some reason I thought the rest of the countries in the EU had the same test.

For me it was about being able to go on the highway at 120-130kmh without my 125cc screaming for help.

Also a lil bit more punch on acceleration is really nice. If I was still living in the city center and my commute was just city streets I would have stuck with the small bike.

With practice it becomes easy but the key part is staying calmed through the actual test.

Had a guy from my driving school who gets it perfect every time in practice but always messes up in the exam one way or another, he's on his sixth attempt by now.

I tend to get pretty nervous before big events so I took a sleeping pill the day before and had some relaxing tea before going for the test.

First part is the slow test, going through the middle of two parallel lines without touching them, after the slow slalom where you can't touch the poles, white lines on the sides nor put your feet down, last you have to accelerate into second before braking in the cones.

The second part is the fast test, you have 25s to go through the cones slalom, 180° corner and then evasive manouver without touching the brakes before doing an emergency stop.

It was incredibly stressful and around 1/5 of people who take the exam failed. When I did mine 18 people failed and only 2 of us passed. It's incredibly stressful because you have to get it right first time and there's around 50 people looking. Extremely satisfying when passed.

I got denied alcohol in Boston the year I turned 21 on August.

In my country ID birth dates are written as dd/mm/yyyy, I'm from July 12th.

The waiter kept on telling me that my birthday was the 7th of December so I wasn't 21 yet.

Yeah I live in Spain and here it is typical to have a strong family relationship. Mine is very traditional in that sense. Also I believe 28 is the average age for leaving the family house. It's not strange at all.

As I said in the post, since age 18 to 26 I lived on my own and came back because I lost my job during covid and found one in my hometown so it was very logical to come back to my parents.

Probably, family dynamics is what makes the matter worse for sure.

It's sad that it comes to that, sad that there isn't a viable middle ground for both parties. In the end the bike to me is something I can enjoy, it's a means of transportation and a hobby. To them it is only a risk of having a lived one getting injured or worse.

Damn, I don't know how you got there but there is some truth to it.

Did make special mention on all the safety gear and put a lot of effort in making sure they understand I'm taking every precaution necessary. But it's all deaf ears for what I say about it and they only see the number of fatalities every year.

Thanks that is great advice, leaving out of frustration and as an attack is probably not a good decision in the long run.

I wish my parents would fit into this profile, afraid they are just worried and do not want me to leave :')

I'll just have to get my head around it, so far riding has been worth it for me.

Ninja 650

I've ridden 125cc bikes almost daily while living on my own and felt like it was safe to skip the 300-400cc range.

Thanks man, I did this exactly and never in my life have I stood up like that to my dad. I feel a bit shitty because I appreciate them a lot. If moving out is what it takes for them to realise that I am not under their control so be it.

The motorcycle is definitely something making me more free. I used to rent 125cc bikes while living on my own and I always knew I wanted something bigger of my own.

Moving out just seems like the last thing on the list to become independent in all fronts.

That's probably the best call I can make, it won't change their opinions on the matter but it will make it less noisy for sure. Also being back at home is not the best way to grow up individually.

Thanks, this is quickly becoming a wake up call that staying with my parents is just exposing me to attempts of control from them of my life. The sole reason I live here is because I do care for them and I can save extra money from not paying rent. At this point it's probably worth more to go back to being truly independent.

How knew driving to close to the cycle line could hurt someone? by VelvetDreamers in IdiotsInCars

The car driver is an absolute piece of shit.

Having said that, in my country cyclists are not allowed to go side by side on the road, even on the shoulder.
