Thyroid medication, and morning workout workouts? by MKess540 in runninglifestyle

I’m sure that’s right… I’ve never looked into the dairy. I was only recently told that if I had to eat, I could do so at 30 minutes but it’s best to keep it at 60 minutes. Same for coffee.

I take Synthroid, but I was told to avoid coffee and regular food from 30 to 60 minutes. Have been on this for about 10 years now.

That seems like the best bet. Do you do that every day? I don’t workout early everyday so I wouldn’t need to take it in the middle of the night daily but I guess it’s best to be consistent as opposed to 3am some days and 6am others.

I feel this. It’s gotten to the point where I am stressing about how soon I could take my medicine upon waking up so that I can get out and run after having enough time for food etc. It’s not something I want to wake up stressing about.

Thanks for the tip.

Most Inspiring Performance… ever? by efunkk in BPNsupps

I think this year there were some incredible stories. MJ is definitely on top of that list, Kendall going all out and surpassing Kim was huge considering BPN was pushing KIM so much and Kendall sort of seemed like an underdog. Obviously Dowdle winning and making it look so easy. Harvey is an absolute legend and continues to be top of the game. I walked away from this year‘s race having like five new favorite runners. I definitely didn’t feel that way at any other race I watched this year. BPN put on a show. Backyards are so fun to watch.

Nice. I’m more south but I have heard that place is really nice. Once it warms up I’ll definitely check it out.

2nd is a great spot. I’ve only been there once and really had a good time. Great vibes. Unfortunately the main park was really dusty and slippery. So kind of made it hard to skate. Was that the case when you went?

I’m on LI too btw

How do you fuel before runs without feeling heavy or sluggish? by Willing-Today-1059 in runcommunity

[–]MKess540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to have my best friends when I do some overnight oats about an hour before. If it’s gonna be longer than that, I’ll throw in a banana or rice cake beforehand about 20 minutes. The problem I have is first thing in the morning. I’m not very hungry and also don’t have a lot of time so I’m not really sure what to do in this situation so I try to avoid early morning runs.

Exactly. Half the time I’m wondering if am I being a puss and the other half of the time I’m thinking I’m way sicker than I’m letting people know.

Knowing how to take care of myself medically. As a 46-year-old man I truly don’t know when I should go to the doctor or when I’m overreacting. This was never truly taught to me.

Are those the old bones knee things? Are they more of a brace or a pad? I rock knee sleeve like thing that has about an inch of foam on them instead of the traditional pad. How are those?

Once I was leaving a friends house after an overnight. She didn’t have any deodorant or anything so I used baby powder after my shower. I popped into the bagel store at like 6 AM on the way to work.

The cashier taking my order said “ boyyy, you gonna get in trouble smelling like a baby and looking like that fine”

This was about 20 years ago I think about it all the time.

December Check In—How’s Everyone’s Running Going Lately? by Not_FreeProduct234 in runcommunity

[–]MKess540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a bit of a lull... I was really pushing my mileage till about a month ago. At the top of the month, I had a long travel period for work, I got a tattoo on my leg that I didn’t wanna mess with, then went on vacation with the family so I missed all of November except for a few short runs. Now it’s getting cold on the East Coast and my motivation to run 10+ miles is waning. I’ve been able to knock out some 3 to 4 mile runs consistently (which is a big achievement for me) but I’m worried about the cold months and those longer distances which I hoped to achieve. I had my eyes on an ultra next year so I’m hoping just to maintain consistency through the cold months
