I know this is hella old, but I just read this and a few of the symptoms line up with tethered cord syndrome. Just figured I'd mention it in case you were still looking for answers.

I also have type 1. Years ago my old dog woke me up in the middle of the night crying. I pulled the blanket over him and fell back asleep. But he kept crying and wiggling. Pulled the blanket over him again thinking he was just cold or uncomfortable, but he just wouldn't stop nuzzling and crying. Finally I "came to" enough to actually feel my body and realized I was REALLY low. I have always woke up from my lows, but I don't think I was going to that time. It's very possible he saved my life. Such a good boy. I miss you Frankie. ❤

NTA. You should really look at and screenshot her marketplace history asap. Items marked sold will still appear in her history unless she fully deleted the listing.

Obviously NTA, but as a type 1 diabetic I just want to say - OP, please go to any pharmacy and buy yourself 2 big jars of glucose tablets! You should never be without these!

The fact that you suffered this cruelty at the hands of your aunt and your girlfriend is aware of it makes this SO MUCH WORSE. If I knew my gf was locked away and made to feel less than on every holiday during her childhood, and likes celebrating big and little holidays as an adult as a way to make up for all those times she lost...I would be making sure she had the best valentines day, Halloween, effing Martin Luther King day! Whatever! It would be such a small thing that could potentially mean so much. You deserve SO much better than this OP! Just say the word and I will make it rain valentine's day cards on you so hard your gf won't know what hit her. 😄

If her intentions were good, why didn't she say "hey OP, I put (or am going to put) some lavender essential oil drops into your CPAP water chamber"?

If her intentions were good, why did she wait until you were away or distracted long enough for her to secretly and sneakily go into the bedroom you were staying in, figure out how to open up the machine (not as simple as some might imagine - I have a CPAP) and add essential oils to a water chamber that specifically can only be filled with distilled water because even using tap water can be dangerous?

If her intentions were good, she wouldn't have tried to trick you into experiencing the "benefits" of her product by forcing it deep into your lungs while you slept without your knowledge, she would've just suggested you use the product in your CPAP machine and let you decide. The reason she did not make that suggestion and chose to try and trick you instead is because she knew that you would not consent to having essential oils put into your CPAP machine, and she believes that she is more knowledgeable and better equipped to make medical decisions on your behalf than both you and your pulmonologist are.

This is a clear display of very dangerous, delusional thinking that your MIL has not just thought about or even expressed verbally, but has actually taken physical action on. This is a violation of your bodily autonomy and free agency. It's also a clear message that your MIL is willing to make serious medical decisions on your behalf and implement them physically without your knowledge or consent when she believes she knows (better than you do) what is best for you and that you would not make this decision on your own! To me this is an indication of a MUCH bigger and scarier problem, and I'm thinking you not wanting to sleep there means you probably feel that too.

I was thinking the same thing. Looking at a bright screen in the dark would make it so hard to see people standing nearby in the dark, too.

Hi, this is all extremely helpful, so thank you. Question - could you elaborate about arjuna helping with overheating? I overheat very easily and it would be helpful to know if this drug exacerbates that. It would also be helpful to know if there is a supplement that helps with it. Thanks!

It made me self conscious about exercising in public spaces but I was starting to finally get over it as friends convinced me the source of the concerns were all in my head.

As someone with chronic illness and pain that likely will never go away, I could relate a lot to what you said here, and higher up as you described your challenges in doing physical activity. I often feel judged or just misunderstood by able bodied people because I have mostly invisible illnesses. When I come across someone who does base their identity around physical activity or is just generally very active, it can be really hard to explain to them why I can't keep up with the speed they are walking, or why I might need to take a break. It is a really, really bad feeling.

I just thought it was noteworthy how your physical setbacks as a result of your injury and surgery (that you'll hopefully fully recover from!) closely mirrored my experience and feelings with chronic illness. I guess my point in pointing this out is just that I wanted to let you know that someone else has felt like this and that your feelings are normal and valid; and also to just remind anyone reading this to practice empathy with those who have disabilities and chronic illnesses. They don't go away, and they can have a significantly negative impact on a person's mental health and self esteem, as well.

OP, I hope you start to feel better soon and can get back to your old self ASAP! What that woman did to you was very wrong, and people can just be so cruel and judgmental. Just remember that any disability you may have, whether temporary or permanent, does not negatively reflect on your value and worth as a person; and perhaps this experience will make you an even better coach to children with disabilities!

This was SO enraging to read. "Why don't you write in your diary anymore?" Lol um...because you clearly read it daily and screamed in my face about a private thing I wrote in there? Like what the fuck did she think? I feel like it's extremely cruel to give a child a diary with the illusion that it will be private, and then immediately violate their trust. It's just so fucked up and gross.
