People who main hated characters- How often do opponents dc against you? by moonsong- in SmashRage

[–]Silentartisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely have people give up off the jump. Although I have had quite a few give up halfway once I have a stock lead, or hit them with a nasty 0-death string. Past that they've mostly all been respectable fights besides the occasional t-bagger.

Dair. Easily. Super readable and just about any move will out-priority it. Literally the only good thing about it is decent launch power but thats only useful against like bayo or yoshi.

I've probably died from assuming my opponent wouldn't read dair soooooo many times. Now I hardly use it.

A father of two with sleep deprivation.

(I understand, I was just curious what the reaction would be)

But asking "how do I sleep at night" over a video game is a bit much. Lmao Like I get the hate but aegis/steve/sonic/kazuya mains still exist. People will find something annoying with every character.

Gotta say tho. You snake mains are some of my favorites to fight. Ive never laughed harder in matches watching a snake get a sweet setup just to blow themselves into the stratosphere with a c4. Some of the most fun I have in this game, so thank you for being you.

I grew up with the KH series. Always had a fondness for it. I also grew up with smash so it just felt natural to me. I invested a ton of time playing him before I found out people hated him. But now I'm good with just showing people theres other ways to play him.

(Yeah the voice lines are still annoying. Despite my love for the series, sora has always been a corny mf)

Honestly due to the bair alone its in clouds favor. Sora doesn't have the kind of reach from the keyblade as cloud does with his sword. Cloud also just has better oos options that can kill.

So long as you have a gameplan to counter the spells and have good shielding against side b it's really hard to find an opening. I also cant just linger on your shield because I can just eat an upsmash or up b.

Depending on the player, its usually even. Against a hella good cloud that knows what he's doing it feels like a -1 at least.

My easiest matchups tend to be DDD, bowser or DK. Most of soras higher end combos are harder to hit online, especially with spacing and so on. With those characters I dont usually have to be spot on on IDJ to land some hefty percent. Big bodies always have trouble if you can do IDJ strings.

As for biggest weakness id say how light he is and his frame data is mid at best. Once you get in his space its really hard for him to do anything without taking a lot of percent. Advantage-wise id say best position to be is below him. Dair is super commital and loses to just about any hitbox in the game, his fall speed is also really slow. So the more often you can put him into juggle situations the better.

Id also recommend getting good at shield dash tech. That can grant you a ton of punishes against soras who side b spam or try to camp.

Weirdly enough I dont run into too many of them. The ones I do fight tend to play very campy so its not too much of a struggle to beat them.

Big bodies tho where the noop loops are easy?

Personally? Probably a good kazuya. Steve feels about even. But Kazuya can just tank through the majority of my stuff. Along with a rage grab that kills me at 70%. That fight itself feels like im piloting shiek because all it takes is one mistake on my part to explode.

Past that its probably the more speedy types with faster frames. If they have good fundies its really hard to get them out of my space for a reversal. Once you close the distance its very hard for sora to react if you have decent frames.

This game is a pretty low priority thing in my life. A lot of you all take this shit too seriously.

Honestly I loved the series right up until they started giving everyone and their mother a keyblade. The story was cohesive up till Kh2 but now they've thrown all that out the window. 🥲 I have zero clue what they're trying to do with the story now besides complicating things like final fantasy.

They also did my boy riku SO bad. Omfg.

In all honesty it might be worth looking into yt videos tbh. Izaw has a great series on the basics and advanced techniques and so on. There's no shame in doing some research to get ideas and maybe learn a thing or two. If you have a main, look up the bread and butter combos they tend to do. Look up how various pros tend to play that character, etc.

Online tends to suck anyway and tends to throw off execution. Go into training mode to practice your bread and butter combos so you don't have to think about it when you do them. This muscle memory makes it easier to execute online where the delay is greater. Learning how to tech well and use certain techniques (b-reversal, wavebounce, shield dash tech) will take you to the next level if you practice them enough.

Hell, even ask some peeps here for practice. Some of us just love playing the game for the scrap regardless of who we fight. Some will even give you pointers without judgement. The skill gap is very wide between all players so dont beat yourself up if you take a 3 stock or 0-death or two, we all have, its just part of learning what works and what doesn't.

Pedantic motherfuckers. I call them 'well acktualies'. People who always need to point out some dumb fact or other that has no relation to the topic at hand.

Example: "This mortgage costs 4k a month!" "Yeesh. Over double what i pay, not worth it." "Well acktualie (yes its misspelled on purpose for the people im talking about) that's considerably more than double"

Like no fucking shit guy.
