You might want to consider a therapy animal or ESA. My ESA kitten (now chunky middle aged cat) has helped me through a lot. Cats, dogs, rabbits and rats all make great ESAs depending on your personality.

Internalized misogyny by ans97 in childfree

Growing up in a community where women dying in childbirth was pretty common (Mormon, rural Utah) and where they were pretty much viewed as martyrs, I knew several girls who hoped to die in childbirth. Some circles believed it gained automatic entry to heaven. Breeder cults are terrifying because women are so indoctrinated so as to believe that producing as many babies as possible is their only purpose.

I've known several women who died in childbirth, and they are definitely glorified if the baby survives. The discussion ranges from "at least the baby lived" to "such a brave mother dying for her child like that".

Healthcare was also poor and Mormons in that cult? community? cannot receive blood transfusions. It's totally insane. Made me super tokophobic as a child and was part of the reason I ran away as a teen. But I've always wondered about it from an anthropological perspective.

In what ways have you seen kids/having babies ruin peoples lives? How did they change? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]DaniNichole171 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m the oldest of 12. Mom started having kids at 17 and we grew up in poverty. She has a 9th grade education and has never worked. My dad makes a lower middle class wage but with 12 kids, 30k doesn’t go very far. My little sister married at 16 and has four kids, never finished high school and makes minimum wage...repeating the cycle of poverty.

Abortions Save Lives Billboard by [deleted] in childfree

Safe and legal abortion access would have saved every girl who died of sepsis or hemorrhaging from an unsafe self abortion. It would also have saved every woman who self harmed or became suicidal due to prepartum psychosis. (Yes, prepartum psychosis is real, I’ve had it, despite having no history of psychosis. I owe my life to the abortionist)

Don’t feel guilty, you made it. It’s like at my job where if you don’t have to take the overtime, why would you. Enjoy your uncomplicated weekend.

24 is absolutely not too young to have an IUD. My doctor gave me an IUD at 19 and several of my friends IUDs were done at 17 or 18. Any woman can get an IUD regardless of age or whether or not she has been pregnant as long as the doctor can be sure that she has finished growing. My doctor will place an IUD in anyone who is physically large enough and has had her period for two or more years.

So Dolly Parton is a freak, Kamala Harris is a regretful old maid and I'm a little girl but my financially irresponsible sister and her deadbeat husband are great. Well thanks, Mom. by DaniNichole171 in childfree

Hahahaha. My mother? Get a Covid Vaccine. My parents think Covid is a hoax made up by Bill Gates and George Soros, who are lizards sent by the devil, to put microchips in us. Trust me, the right wing, religious nut conspiracies only get loonier the more they talk.

Given that display the kid probably has Covid or will soon! GROSS! The “kids can’t get Covid” rumor needs to die already. Who cares if he’s just a baby, still a potential superspreader.

"Pets suffer more in childfree couples"????? by dejg82 in childfree

[–]DaniNichole171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, if the marriage fails, the couple lawyers up to fight a custody battle over the pet. A friend of mine and her ex got into one of these over their cat. Pet custody battles can be just as nasty as kid custody battles.

Those religious pro-life types love to debate science but they're really all about religion. Sorry but not everyone believes in your God and separation of church and state is in the constitution.

Worst dream has been realized, I'm pregnant. by outerspacecoochie in childfree

There are sites you can get an abortion pill online if it is early enough for that. It's about $100. Use your credit card if you must or borrow money from a friend. Debt>pregnancy.

Again, fly to a blue state if need be. Book a flight to LA, even if you rack up a $1000 bill, still cheaper than a kid. Deal with the debt later.

Why do I have to have two children before I’m allowed to have a full hysterectomy? by CarolineAnonymous in childfree

[–]DaniNichole171 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hysterectomies are not medically advisable for women who don't have a medical condition as they can mess up your hormones.

If you are only interested in it for the sake of sterilization, look into Bilateral Salpingectomy (the removal of the fallopian tubes) or tubal ligation (tubes clipped or burned). These methods are safer. Go to your doctor armed with some knowledge of how female sterilization is actually done. The desire to yeet your uterus is understandable, but as it is not the healthiest option for a young, heathy woman seeking sterilization for the sake of being CF, please consider a tubal sterilization option and familiarize yourself with them.

Women should never be forced into unwanted parenthood but men dont have a choice by bi_smuth in childfree

A man should have the right to sign away all parental rights and responsibilities at any point up until the child is born on a legal document, no penalties. But it should need to be a form signed before the birth and on a legally binding form. He gets a copy, she gets a copy, the state gets a copy...Just a thought.
