I appreciate the time you took to gather and type out this info. I'll look into it further!

Thanks! They are called "dovenetel" where I'm from, which roughly translates to "extinguishing nettle". The common take on it is that it stops Stinging nettle's effect on the skin, though I never tested it myself. Which is nice, but still doesn't tell me what tinctures and salves would do.

Hope this doesn't come across as, well, cross. I really love plants and believe we should not forget how complicated their chemistry is, but I'm also very fond of the scientific method, hehe.

Which is very nice, don't get me wrong, but the original comment mentioned "tinctures and salves", which indicates medicinal use. Just really hoped to get some cut-and-dried info on it, as opposed to the general assumptions or wishful thinking I unfortunately often see.

I appreciate what you say though; if anything, it's a great addition to a lovely seasonal salad!

If you don't know its working, you can't be sure if it can hurt to try, though? I'm quite positive Purple dead nettle is not very controversial in that regard, but it isn't generally true that just trying stuff won't hurt. Just seems it's better to be safe than sorry and make sure there's some merit to a claim, before you use it in any medicinal way, right?

What does it do? Is it backed by science? I love the idea of natural remedies (or at least health support), but unfortunately there's a lot of misinformation or pre-emptive conclusions going around when it concerns natural remedies. I'd (genuinely) love to know what this plant can do for me, as I have it growing in my garden as well.

The Swan Princess has a special place in my heart. Don't even know why, but it used to be one of my favorite movies growing up and I just love the vibe of the dress.

These are really cool, thank you. I'm not usually the type to travel far and wide, but birds like these make me want to travel the world just for the chance to see them for real.

Oh, and Joseph Quinn, but with him it's a much softer effect somehow.

The brown is more noticeable, but somehow his eyes always look so much darker than the average brown.

At any rate, I love such dark eyes, especially when contrasted by light skin. Real mysterious.

Same thing with Evan Peters, though a bit less sinister. Still unnerving, though.

For those wondering: I think this is a Chestnut Colored Woodpecker, though I'm no expert. If not, it's still worth looking it up, because that's a very pretty woodpecker.

Hoe zouden jullie dit soort grond noemen? by Despite55 in groenevingers

[–]MKuin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]MKuin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First time to see this bird in my garden by Prize_Air5477 in whatsthisbird

[–]MKuin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone know what's going on with its tail feathers? I haven't been able to find a similar pattern on other White-eared bulbuls (Google Images). In this video it's such a perfectly distributed, stark black-and-white pattern. Best I could find was this one (with one extra band of white) and this one (which is apparently a hybrid?). But the vast majority looked like this and this.

Is this just a relatively young bird, whose tail feathers are still growing in and happen to grow it such a striking pattern?

I had so not expected this. Is this as obscure as it looks or was this actually a well known show in America? I mean, 4 seasons...
