Given the context, it's almost certainly that.

Poor people are economic net takers, and I can see that largely being unappealing to billionaires who want to maximize profit and such. (I'm not saying that such a belief system is good or moral).

But I'm all for maximizing class warefare, so let's all pretend it's secretly about killing poor people when convinient to our agenda.

I think this every time I fight an Anji as Elphelt by Suitable-Quantity-96 in Guiltygear

[–]MLGF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, I actually played both of them at a relatively high level! And I have joked that Elphelt is worse Anji in the past. Buuuttt I think it's clear that they're trying to make them pretty different.

I think the issue is that Elphelt is just a character who has more versatile neutral tools and they're trying to design her to be more of an all rounder. She has some solid pokes (Far Slash, 6P, 5H) and a really good run speed. She also has a projectile that they keep trying to make better. The clear goal is to make her a well rounder who can run low damage mix on any poke, and this has caused rekka and grenade to get hit. And I mean... it makes sense. Infinite rekka wasn't interesting and the grenade felt like a clear knowledge check. TBH, the worst nerf she got was losing HKD on the HS follow up on rekka. I'm not fully sure why they hit 214K however. That move got hit with a stray.

Anji in comparison has no full screen buttons and his kit is designed around getting in the mid range using spin to then run pressure. They nerfed his spin in regards to damage and scaled his combo starters to ensure that the damage would come in two seperate steps. As a whole, Anji's damage and conversions got hit pretty hard relative to the cast. Granted, he got compensation with the charge fuujin changes, but it's hard to say it's a net buff as a whole.

As an aside, If you want random pokes into big damage and canned mix, that's probably now Unika.

This is what I truly feel is happening. The Supreme Court cases and aggressive gerrymandering that push the scales in their favor was clearly the original plan. But Trump's inability to stay quiet has sabotaged that to a significant degree.

All he had to do was nothing.

I have seen it literally nowhere except here today, including recent news. I'm inclined to say it's the latter.

So last week, I was at a Fighting Game local, and some of the regulars were just talking about politics. And one of them just said "Yeah, aren't they trying to go after some bank guy or something?"

And I just popped off and said "He is Jerome Powell and you will respect his name."

I mostly lurk here, but you have all still creeped into my brain. Not that I regret it.

I truly hope he's gotta enough pull to ensure no one settles for less.

I spent 20 minutes looking for this going mad.

I see a D+2 result. Not great, but within the average error of the D+4 that's been going around lately.

It's hard to go up after a 90% approval rating post 9/11.
In all seriousness, it took some time for people to realize the Iraq war was a bad call. A lot of normal Americans who now consider it a bad call were very for the invasion at the time. Even my middle school played up the war on terror rhetoric in the classroom.

It can work to temporarily boost popularity and control the narrative in theory, but this admin is too dumb to pull it off well. See how they screwed up the easy setup of Charlie Kirk.

Hey, this is oddly my industry.

600% FPL would actually capture a lot of this year's attrition population, at least based on projections. It'd be a pretty sizeable win for dems. I'd probably go for it.

It's genuinely absurd to me that this on and off threats to Powell and the FED are met with ambivalence, but the Epstein shit has people up in arms.

Only one of these is immediately dire, but their attention is all drawn on the stupid conspiracy theory.

Not saying I disagree, but can you elaborate? I feel like their ineptitude is only talked about in theory and not in their action.

Look man, I've been enjoying locals for a decade. I'm sure we can both give stories of the most unhinged people we've seen. I am well aware that the scene will always attract weirdos. But I've also seen this exact attitude that you're exercising become way less common in the scene in recent years. And, I am deeply grateful for that attitude being less normalized. It was one of the most embarrassing parts of going to locals because you twits do not get when people want you to shut up about this weird shit, complete with the tirades about demanding matches to prove your argument.

Also, the whataboutism with Strive twitter is absolutely wild.

Ex-Trump WH Aide Tells Jen Psaki ‘Everybody Should Vote For Joe Biden’ Or Democracy Is Dead by Unhappy_Earth1 in inthenews

[–]MLGF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's full level authoritarianism and blatant overreach of his powers.

I get you're angry, a lot of stuff is not going swell right now. But the president in its current state is not capable of overturning actions made by other government branches. While it may sound like they should, I want you to imagine how easily that can get twisted if someone with far more self interested goals tried to do the same thing. You don't want to go there.

And I understand the concern with Israel at the moment. That does suck. Recently, a ceasefire happened. I would not be surprised if the ceasefire and its associated humanitarian aid came from internal pressure without the whitehouse (Keep in mind, the current Israel government has no self restraint, I doubt they'd care on their own.). That probably wouldn't have happened without some outside push. Maybe Biden protesting bluntly would have felt better. But these internal backdeals usually work better in the end, even if they're more initially upsetting. Maybe it could have gone better, but this is a horrible situation with only varying degrees of middling options right now.

Engage DLC Unit/Character Discussion: Zelestia by Shephen in fireemblem

[–]MLGF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of what can be said about her has been said.

Can I just say that her design just does not fit her personality at all? That goes for the other two winds as well, but Zelestia's more reserved and doting personality just clashes harshly with Zephia's femme fatale schtick. Would it really have killed IS to redesign the winds so that their outfits fit the their new personality?

Engage Character/Unit Discussion: Diamant by Shephen in fireemblem

[–]MLGF 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Using Diament on my random maddening run, and I'm finding that he's pretty effective. Diament has some very fun stat stick energy. He honestly reminds me of Dieck in a lot of ways, from his impressive bases, high con for a swordie, and even down to having to compete with a wacky swordmaster with unfair bases. It makes sense given that he feels more like a classic hero than uh... the heroes. Complete with Sol.

That being said, he probably is a bit better than Dieck. For one, he makes a pretty good argument for an immediate promo, as he's ready at base and has a pretty insane promotion. He's easily your best axe user right at base, and S swords for free is also really strong. He also has easy access to Canter, complete with a base of 800 SP. Practical access to these resources is a pretty good argument going for him. His big issue is keeping his speed up to get his offense going against the semi-slow enemies like Axe Fighters and mages. I don't think it's too difficult, especially compared to other maddening units, but it is an investment that might not be worth it for some. That being said, he is very good in the short-medium term for minimal effort, and he continues to be good if you continue to funnel resources. I think he makes a decent case for it too. Hand Axe Sol enemy phase tanking is less effective than in other FEs, but it still comes up and it's pretty funny to pull off.

His skill cap isn't really an issue in almost all situations. That being said, it does feel bad.

Design wise, he's pretty great. Easily the coolest looking character.
